I hate State Farm. Tornado damage two years ago. I’ve had SF insurance since 1988. I had to threaten to sue. I got the state insurance commissioner involved. I finally left money on the table out of exasperation. I swore that I’d paid my last SF premium. I shopped around and finally thought that I’d found an independent agent who was at least competitive and by competitive I’m mean not double. When I went to swap over it was all a bait and switch. None of the quotes that I’d been originally given were good. Every single quote was considerably higher because I’d been quoted every discount with him knowing that I didn’t have an on-site fire department or a concrete dome covering my property or a commercial sprinkler system installed in a residential building or that discount was only available on the first Tuesday of every month and it was Wednesday. They’re all the same. Get this, we recently sold our house. Have SF homeowners, multiple auto, RV insurance, personal property insurance, and liability insurance. We sold some vehicles that I dropped the insurance on so I went by the office and told them that I’d be dropping the homeowners in a few weeks as well. My remaining policies will be cheaper overall if I continue to insure the home I just sold because I’ve got all these bundled policies that are no longer available so it looks like I’m going to keep insuring a house I no longer own at least in the short term.
