I was on the Petrino bandwagon when the position was open. I like Stoops but I too would have rolled the dice with Petrino. He has owned us in the past. According to his father he wanted the job.

Brohm didn't have any head coaching experience either, he was on Petrino's staff at WKU, then he got the job when Petrino jumped ship for hooker heaven. So hiring Brohm would have been hiring a guy with zero head coaching experience too. So that dog won't hunt.
Petrino is a classless POS, that is not a good recruiter, he would not be bringing in the talent at Kentucky that Mark Stoops is. Now, sometime that talent has to equate to Ws on the field, with three games left to prove what they can do, the jury is still out, if the CATS finish 7-5 by winning out these last three games, a lot of ills will be forgotten and forgiven. Until next season.

He was fired in Arkansas in the Spring and I think after Spring Practice...kind of tough to threw together a team/coaching staff in the SEC West with that kind of abrupt change.

Kragthorpe was a bad fit...no way that team with that many returning starters should have went 6-6 in the old BIG EAST especially with 7 of those players off that team ending up with NFL Contracts with 3 still playing at a high level in Barnidge, Wood and Giacomoni.

He quit in Atlanta midway through his first year and in his cowerdly way chose to tell the players by leaving notes in their locker. The whole country wrote about Louisville's win at all cost mentality after you rehired him.

Your other coach screwed some slut on a restaurant table, pages her hush money, paid his assistant to marry her, and only came clean after he was caught. Now your university is being universally blasted because of the culture of Louisville athletics and a hooker scandal.

Don't you dare compare a good man in john Calipari who has never embarrassed himself off the court and has never cheated to the scumbag Petrino.

M26...before PE replys here is his response..."None of our business as long as it's not an ncaa violation and HE WINS FOOTBALL games"... but I have never got him to answer what would his answer be if either one of those two ladies would have been his daughter or his wife

Louisville's Offense has struggled all year to score points. Against decent teams, they average around 20 pts per game. Not exactly like Petrino days of old. Their O-Line is horrible. They can't decide on a QB, still, 10 games into the season, and are only ranked around #80 in Total Offense.

The only reason they have been winning their last 6 games or so is because they were front loaded and they have been playing terrible teams, in last 7 games, except FSU.

I really don't think they will score a ton points on us. Maybe 25-30 points.

Their QBs also don't do well with pressure and the O-Line sucks. So, if we can give any of their QBs pressure, it will help keep them off balance and force turnovers.

Well, I did want Petrino, but it is way too late now..So, we will ride it out with Coach Stoops and hope for the best. It is just so frustrating knowing could have hired a winner. :(

I have read this thread, and many card fans are what is wrong with the world in general.. no accountability for jack ****. YOU and your UNIVERSITY are one of the many reasons grown f'n men keep on messing up over and over and over again and KNOW that there is a sucker like U OF CRAP (L) to give them an opportunity because they are good at a single thing... and that single thing is coaching or playing a sport. You bunch of irrational troglodytes need to wake up and think like an adult and not just about the product (or lack of it) on the field. The "it is what it is" mindless phrase is for folks who don't like to think and analyse a subject/situation and just accept it because they are either not affected or it brings a positive effect to their sports needs... I just hope you don't come crying when your team ends up being the first since SMU with a death penalty for your irrational and illogical actions.

Lol...no in the world of sports it doesn't matter...let me put it this way...you brought up the death penalty...if Penn State, UNC & Miami didn't or will not receive the "Dealth Penalty" nobody will...way too much $$$ involved and guess what..."It is What It Is"....it is about "Money & Entertainment"....you may not like it so go ahead and rail against it....not going to change anything...deal with it...

What exactly do I have to deal with? A cesspool of a University in my home city in which invites and supports all sorts of criminal activities because it wins them football games. Prostitution, "it is what it is"... Basketball Coach paying for abortions and cheating on wife "it is what it is", Hiring a football coach who knows no bounds to be a scum lord with his wife, former employers and motorcycle enthusiasts as well, "it is what it is"... Are you getting a pattern here? Either stand up for something good or be a tool to your schools ethics... or lack of.

Yes you are correct , Petrino 1st year at Arkansas. Barley 21-20 with Brooks . UK has never Beaten Petrino at UofL ! That is what I was talking about and the fact stoops couldn't beat Petrino in his 1st and only year at WKU !

They are on a four game win streak against teams with a combined 12-28 record. We would win those four games.

Our last four opponents are 24-16. Looserville would go 1-3 vs our opponents

Overall it's bout even.
UK's opponents are 46-34 and theirs are 43-37

Here is the biggest difference. Take away our three best opponents. FL, GA,UT for us and CL, FST and Houston for them and their schedule is weak. Our opponents are 23-27 vs 15-35 for them with Pittsburg having 7 of those 15 wins.

Heck no for NeckbracePetrino.

I've never had an issue with petrino cheating on his wife, how he left louisville, or how he left the falcons. My issue is the fact that he broke state law, and put arkansas's athletic department in a very severe situation. I couldn't support him at uk for that reason. However, I am pissed beyond belief at the ineptitude of our athletic director. There were 2 CLEAR choices for the job, both of which are PROVEN coaches, and both of whom have uk ties and would have taken the job in a heart beat. Mike Leach and Sonny Dykes. Both are doing very well in the pac 12. Instead of going the proven route, we once again hire a coordinator with zero head coaching experience. This is why we are the laughing stock of the conference.

When Texas Tech, a school with a much better football tradition than we have, hired Leach, he was a coordinator with no college head coaching experience. He was a smashing success there. When Petrino was hired at Louisville first time around, he had no head coaching experience, and went 41-9. There are plenty of other examples of first time head coaches who have succeeded.
