I think so. It may or may not be this year. But he’s too good of a coach not to.
If he defers to his staff more, or makes a couple of changes there, than yes. As long as his focus is on the June draft, no.

You don't think coaches should defer to their staff? You don't think Cal puts a lot of work into getting his kids ready for the NBA?
I’d say about 50/50 he wins one in the next 5 years. Close to 80/20 if he sticks around for 10.
I say probably not. When he lost to Wisconsin with one of the best teams ever, I said then he’d never win another. He’s had a great career with awesome teams but only won the one. That’s a horrible track record for the talent he’s had.
I'm as big a UK fan as there is, and I voted no. I voted no because, IMHO, Cal refuses to recruit guys who are actually good at the game of basketball, and instead focuses upon bringing in guys who can jump out of the gym. That's all fine and well, but when you have multiple players on your team who have difficulty even dribbling a basketball, much less actually putting the ball in the hoop, then no, that type of player does not tend to win titles.
Now, that said I hope like hell he begins recruiting better basketball players because he CAN coach them up, we've all been witness to that.

That's just silly. Cal has won 30+ games 5 times at UK. 2 of them are in the past 3 seasons.
We have just come up short twice in the Elite 8.
Three things lead to this train of thought...
1. Wisconsin Game
2. Basing too much of your opinion on a given season because of one game.
3. Those games we lost the past couple of years, we won earlier in his tenure....spoiled the fan base. Point is those games are almost always a toss up unless you are a generational team, i.e. 2012/2015
JMHO but leaving Wisconsin game out of it, if they beat UNC or Auburn you wouldn't think the game caught up to him/passed him by.
We have suffered some tough L's in the tournament the past few years but only one was a bad upset and that was KSU....even that was strictly because of porous foul shooting.

I can keep doing this. Last year BUCKET (herro) was here, but not just him. In fact Cal has had a lot of skilled players. They were freshmen...don't expect them to explode so early in their career. Look at NR...it takes time.
EJ while...haven't shown it...is considered skilled player. Same could be said of Keldon Johnson. None of those guys last year were considered Super athletes. They all had some basketball skill...but when you are freshmen...**** ain't that easy...

The amount of players that have been actually "good at the game of basketball" has been enormous during the Cal era.
losing to Auburn last year, a team that we had already beaten twice, once by almost 30 points, and that was without their best player was a pretty bad loss in its on right.
No, I do not think he will win another one unless he has another super team like 2015 and then there’s a chance but he couldn’t finish it off then and doubtful another team like that gets assembled again anyway. Just don’t have the faith in him to make the adjustments that need to be made when the rubber meets the road.

it's not worth it. If someone thinks that during this entire tenure Cal hasn't recruited players that can actually play the game of basketball.........there's no point in debating them lol
Huh? So you’re ignoring all the elite players he’s got and focuses on the athletic guys who are like how you’ve described he’s only had about 4 of those Whitney Poythress Diallo and Marcus Lee

poythress was good. Not the guy we needed to provide scoring but he did everything else well. He was elite defender too..and also the OMG-did-you-see-that-**** plays.
Yes he will but we see how hard is being ready every game. The talent you have MUST be ready fir all challenges

“Fans” keep saying that is a bad loss but they forget auburn was coming off like ten straight wins after being clobbered by Kentucky and was a MIRACLE 3 away from playing Texas Tech in the national title game.
Exactly. After we crushed them at Rupp, they went on a huge streak........won the SEC tournament, beat Kansas, UNC and UK in the tournament and was 1 point away from beating eventual champion UVA.
People thinking that was a "bad loss" are clueless.
Also when people say Cal recruits these low IQ athletic only ballplayers who exactly fits into that category?

More than one. Two at a minimum. What happened to the spirit, assurance, confidence and optimism of Kentuckians? The program has the coach of the decade, terrific players, the best resources to succeed and is overdue some luck after a few bad breaks. It is inevitable.
