Bitter Canadian star Nathan MacKinnon shades US after Olympic loss: ‘You be the judge’
Nathan MacKinnon does not believe Team Canada got what it deserved.nypost.com
He's not wrong. I said it while watching...I wasn't aware they would go to the 3 on 3, but that is indeed a gimmick designed to end games quicker and is not truly "hockey". as he says, the NHL does not use it in the games that matter the most, the playoffs and Stanley Cup Final. Neither should the Olympics.

Canada coach Jon Cooper blasts ‘TV-driven’ rules after heartbreaking Olympics loss to US
Unlike the 4 Nations Face-Off and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the overtime period is five-on-five, the Olympics use a three-on-three format.nypost.com
And they say the French ice skating judges acted the part of the East Germans.I watched bit and pieces. It didn't have the oomph as in the past. Maybe that's just me.
The highlights for the USA were obviously the two Gold Medals in men's and women's hockey.
I didn't follow this closely but heard that there was a cheating scandal with Canada's curling team. How the heck do you cheat in curling? LOL
That they were allowed to blatantly cheat in every way for decades is a far bigger joke. And doesnt seem they changed much, tho they lost the soviet block judges and refs. Wasn that why their athletes had to compete under a made up name in the last olympics? The biggest joke is no Russia. I get it but if anyone wants to complain about anything it’s that. This whole tournament gets an *
They are allowed to play in the nhl…they are allowed to compete at Wimbledon etcThat they were allowed to blatantly cheat in every way for decades is a far bigger joke. And doesnt seem they changed much, tho they lost the soviet block judges and refs. Wasn that why their athletes had to compete under a made up name in the last olympics?
lol I think they did.My question, didn't Canada beat someone in OT before reaching the final game? And in that case did their coach ***** about the rules then?
I assume this OT rule was not instituted yesterday morn.lol I think they did.
I get the "sour grapes" timing of his remark...but still valid. Its like deciding a basketball tournament that is tied after regulation on a 3 point shooting contest. that's not the game.
\
plus we know how we would fare in that....yikes!
The shootout isnt normal hockey either lol. Was a shame to see such a well played game come to that, but that is the (current) setup and both teams had to play by the same rules. Frankly, Canada missed so many chances (including one where MacKinnon had a wide open net...and could not convert) that they only have themselves to blame.
Good for the USA (even if it was a Devil that did it...lol...as a Ranger fan not the best outcome...lol) but maybe they will consider a change, if only for the medal round games, next time.
The ban this time is over Ukraine. They are allowed to play in the nhl…they are allowed to compete at Wimbledon etc
If they cheat catch them..no Russia again while I get it, brings the whole tournament down a little
Wow thanks didn’t realize thatThe ban this time is over Ukraine.
They are a top 4 country with maybe 5/6 top goaltenders in the worldRussia isn't what they used to be. don't think it's an *.
the whole thing is based around who can beat canada.
I agree all around...and agree that the game should not be decided in a gimmicky way. Each team had the same chance to win in overtime....bottom line.
Feel bad for the athletes. if we invade greenland we should we banned from 28.They are a top 4 country with maybe 5/6 top goaltenders in the world
Their exclusion weakens the entire tournament it’s that simple
Heck, Denmark doesn’t even want to keep supporting them!Feel bad for the athletes. if we invade greenland we should we banned from 28.
Finland and Sweden are better. They are a top 4 country with maybe 5/6 top goaltenders in the world
Their exclusion weakens the entire tournament it’s that simple
I got sucked into a few events that I normally would not watch. The woman’s 28.5 km relay in cross country skiing was pretty awesome. Swedish team which was heavily favored, their lead skier fell twice and broke a binding dropping them to eighth or ninth place. They should’ve been done, but the team rallied and won the silver.I enjoyed the Winter Olympics. Love watching sports I don't usually see and the team camraderie and sportsmanship. Thought curling was cool and all the skiing events with the crazy twists and turns and bobsled and skeleton. The scenery in Italy was beautiful and I thought the coverage this year was more about the sports and a little less on the human interest stories which I really liked. In the past they didn't show the actual sports enough but I thought the coverage was far more balanced this time. All in all I loved it. Still so happy about the big win yesterday in hockey.
It would seem most experts disagreeFinland and Sweden are better.
the defense would stink. It would seem most experts disagree
Sweden was about +500 to win a gold and Finland was worse

2026 Winter Olympics: How would a Russian Olympic hockey team impact the competition in Italy?
The Russians would have fielded one of the most talented teams in the tournamentwww.cbssports.com
I get sucked into the Winter Olympics every time. So many events that would never make it on regular tv. The speed of the bobsled, luge, downhill skiing, speed skating are incredible. Throw in things like curling and cross country it’s so cool to see when it’s on.I got sucked into a few events that I normally would not watch. The woman’s 28.5 km relay in cross country skiing was pretty awesome. Swedish team which was heavily favored, their lead skier fell twice and broke a binding dropping them to eighth or ninth place. They should’ve been done, but the team rallied and won the silver.
Then three days later the woman whose ski broke in that event won the individual 5000 m event, which was the final one.
And the Italian woman’s downhill scare was the oldest woman to win gold in that event at 35. She had a devastating the knee injury last year and couldn’t even walk for three months. The strength and perseverance were very impressive.
I barely watch figure skating, but Alyssa Liu was so much fun to watch and a great representative for the U.S..
They have tremendous athletic and acrobatic capabilities, but some of these new sports favor the bigger countries. Most of the medal winners were US, Canada, China. Almost seems like the committee adds sports to improve ratings. What did you guys think of the new (relatively) skiing events with the skiers diung tricks? It is amazing seeing that stuff as people s. This seemed to be on TV a lot. I prefer the old stuff, alpine skiing, ski-jumping
