These are educated guesses based on all I've read, looking at the talent, etc. The most accurate estimates I've seen reported were by The Athletic who polled 35 coaches at Peach Jam this summer.

Average estimated roster costs
ACC$8.2 million
Big East$8 million
Big Ten$8.5 million
Big 12$8.6 million
SEC$9.7 million
Mid-major plus$2.3 million
Low- to mid-major$525,000
Yup, The Athletic published this info at the start of the season. Of course those numbers are skewed with top Sec and B1 G teams well into ten figures. And of course Pitino says today that each BE school should be required to spend $9-10 million each on roster construction. He’s not wrong.

You think if we went 7-1 the rest of the way with the only loss coming @ UConn, we get left out? No way.

We currently have a 6-7 Q1+Q2 record with 4 Q1 games and 1 Q2 game remaining. Assuming the loss to UConn, that would leave us at 10-8 Q1+Q2 record, which is above the .500 mark so often talked about as an at-large qualifier. We also have a solid road+neutral record which would only improve if we went 7-1. Getting left out at 7-1 (overall record 23-8) only happens if there are an unforeseen number of bid stealers like what happened 2 years ago.

Seton Hall would definitely be in at 13-7 in the league. But, 7-1? This team?! Thank you for the laugh at least.

I feel like we've been saying this every year since Sha took over and it never works out that way, lol.

How about we win a game in the BET first before we think about winning it? Reminder: We've yet to do that under this guy.

When did I say we’re going 7-1? Read what I responded to before you giggle yourself into oblivion.

Again…read. Try again. You can do this! I believe in you!

Never said that you said they were going 7-1. Just said thanks for the laugh (for even making me think about it!).

I have really tried to believe in Sha this year. It’s getting harder by the game. If he runs the same starting lineup out there tomorrow and willingly goes into the same early hole, I just don’t know anymore.

Save yourself the time and stress, he isn't worth believing in. Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Well, now's the perfect opportunity to showcase some elite leadership, motivation, and coaching. The team is floundering and in a rut. It's the same pattern over and over again. We have blown all the goodwill from starting 14-2, 4-1 and being ranked #25. We're down to 16-7, 6-6 and #51 in both the NET and KP. Consensus is we're OUT of the NCAA Tournament without major work.

Here are the next 5 games (NET/KP). Go win them. Let's see some changes and spark and pushing the right buttons. Get us in position.

Today at Creighton (81/75) - House of Horrors for Shaheen.
Wednesday vs. Providence (84/65) - They have quite the win streak at Prudential, BTW.
Sunday (2/15) at Butler (66/71)
Wednesday (2/18) vs. DePaul (107/104)
Saturday (2/21) vs. Georgetown (94/83)

1 game vs a top 75 NET team. If we’re lucky we will move up 2 spots per win. If we lose count on dropping 5 spots.

How did the big east become so soft.
Creighton and Marquette were staples. Their collapse this year hurts the league tremendously. I listen to The Field of 68 podcast everyday and they can’t help but mock the Big East every chance they get. It’s upsetting, but they’re not wrong. Next year HAS to be a get right year. Show that our conference can compete in this new era (other than the Big 3). I also wonder if we need to consider adding a school. There’s a mutual partnership to be had somewhere. Just like UConn benefited by coming back, so did the Big East.

I’m just wondering how many years we can endure the UConn to the Big 12 rumors before it actually happens and then we’re back to square one. Pitino is aging out. Can Willard carry the conference the way Jay Wright did? McDermott is rumored to be retiring. Who replaces him? Can Shaka tackle the transfer portal and get his team right next year? What’s going on with Providence and Georgetown? Will Butler ever be competitive again? Seton Hall? DePaul? Xavier? Something needs to change. This has become a trend.

Anyone see whether Dix is playing today? I haven’t seen the latest.

BTW, Pitino is 29-3 in the BE since that 11-9.
