Possible angled treatment of player who left program. Now some MD scribes putting out that Willard sought to only NIL up Maryland starters last year.
Seems to be a fine line between needing help and helping the team. Technically, the player did leave the team. Danny "left the team" at the start of his junior year, didn't he? Maybe Willard (.... never Mr. Articulate...) is saying kids need to push through some/ a lot of challenges they face.If what is being said is true and there is not more to the story then this was poorly handled by Willard. Mental health issues are not a laughing matter and Willard supposedly laughing at him knowing he didn't play because of a 'foot issue' is embarrassing for the coach.
Sounds like Willard wasn't happy with him missing time. It will be interesting moving forward how this is handled. Worse case scenario for Nova, a lawsuit.
Danny leaving the team is 30 years old and a different generational perspective. His scenario in the present would be a significant red flag needing support, help and treatment. There is stigma association and 90s isn't present day world view.Seems to be a fine line between needing help and helping the team. Technically, the player did leave the team. That said, mental health among young people is important to recognize
Lots more like him too unfortunately.Willard is a good coach for sure, but every now and then he seems to make a jerk of himself with what comes out of his mouth. It's a good part of why I am not a fan of his.
