St Johns deserve to LOSE. Hate them more than even Wright NOVA years man. Nova at least developed their guys and played beautiful basketball. Like I said it's a bought team like how they do it in the NBA and MLB. It's such a soulless team and it sickens me seeing the bandwagon cult act like they always loved St Johns lol. Yeah they had the 80s but they aren't close to this diehard fanbase.

I know we would run circles over them if Nil wasn't an issue. We ran through them through actual scouting and development.

NIL is the issue. No longer student athletes competing vs each other. It’s different levels of pros with a. Sprinkling of amateurs. 😰

Ya never know....

But we've got to practice shooting 3s.

And Shaheen needs to design some plays to get perimeter shooters open.
Williams played good defense, rebounded well, but gives us zero on offense. Have to get him open for the three.

He is on the Mount Rushmore of College Basketball Coaches. That probably has something to do with it too.

Ask Providence how all the NIL money did🤣
Agreed. He’s also not going somewhere without the cash and tells you every chance he gets that SJU still acts too small.

SHU needs to raise more.

Ah that was it…guys that were historical 25-33% career three point shooter at lower levels of college basketball just didn’t practice them enough this year.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s even harder to shoot them against more talented defensive players in the BE.

But I guess it’s worth a shot, practice them all week until Thursday and maybe they will start to go down.

I will say this. If the team could somehow find a way to make 6-7 three pointers a game at the BET, then realistically could make a run at it.

They shot at 50 percent from 3 against UConn after a week off. Presumably they worked on shooting reps and mechanics.

Yep. And we even underperformed that significantly. This team just shot 28.2% in BE play. They were also dead last in 2PT% at 46.9%. The home stats must be even worse, we were terrible at Prudential.

Again, all summer we pointed out the shooting concerns and the typical lack of 3PT game in Holloway's offenses. It's very hard to trade 3's for 2's and be a consistent winner over the long haul and it's something he needs to look at. IDK how many 3-and-D guys are out there within our budget that will play defense they wan he wants and still hit 3's, but I think there's a bit of compromising and adjustment to be made. You can be the 30th rated defense and have a much better offense and be in a better place, for instance.

Our current extremes aren't good enough: We couldn't score enough to blow out bad teams or beat good teams. We're going to miss the NCAA Tournament despite being 14th in the country in DE. Tough to do. We collapsed to finish 6-9 after 4-1 and went 0-4 n the marquee games against the top BE teams because we could not score.

Wont happen. We just are what we are. What made us successful in the beginning of the season just isnt happening now. The ability to knock down shots and run an offense is big, however we were able to turn teams over at will. That just hasnt happened the last 6-8 weeks. Those turnovers allowed us to mask our awful 1 on 1 half court offense

Agree with what you say.
But the 9 of 18 vs UConn was an outlier.

The week off might have helped their legs recharge, which aided the performance.

so hopefully Thursday we have good legs and make some threes. But 3 days in a row is not going to be to our advantage from that element of the game.

Also extra reps shooting 3s this week won’t change who they are either.

Not as bad as the 2022-23 collapse. Started 15-9 (8-5), finished the season 2-7.

like I said they have not dominated us at all so
We lost to uconn and sj 4 times by a total of 21 pts.

Sj lost to Uconn bt 125 pts the last time they played. Well, might not have been by 125 but it sure seemed like it to rick.

Like has been said, crazy season...... shooting...just dont know what to say.

That one was painful too. We lost a lot when Richmond injured himself and was gone for the season (think maybe were 1-6 without him or something).

Sha's teams are almost good enough in 3/4 seasons. That's not good enough. Even the 2023-24 team that would've been in if not for a record-setting number of upsets in Championship Week (offfffccccc) was terrible in the non-con, which is what made them vulnerable. Almost!

It feels like every team but Seton Hall has a guy or two that averages maybe 15MPG and shoots about .380 to .400 from 3 and takes majority of shots from the arc. These guys get a couple open looks every game or at least give you a threat to do so. It makes a big difference. Villanova and Creighton always have them, but so do teams like DePaul (Pierre-Justin), Xavier (Wright), Georgetown (Abraham), and so on and so forth. Classic floor spacers. And that's what they do. They set up for that shot. Sort of like what was the thought for Pirate and Investor Legend Veer Singh.

Why can't we just find these guys? You don't have to reinvent the wheel you just need guys you're willing to play in a complementary role because they can knock down the 3 in this day and age.

It's not that we can't find them. We don't actively seek them out. It isn't the way the coach wants to play.
