WATCH: Deivon Smith 'defies gravity' with monster dunk vs. Syracuse

Georgia Tech guard Deivon Smith has always been an exceptional finisher at the rim. On Saturday against the Syracuse Orange, he had one of the best dunks of the 2022-2023 college basketball season. Smith had a breakaway dunk in which he took off a several feet outside the restricted area, cocked the ball back in mid-air, and sent it in with authority.

It was a spectacular dunk by Smith and an impressive vertical leap from a very far distance from the hoop. What a dunk and what a vertical! Smith has a very complete game and this season for the Yellow Jackets–he’s been averaging 7.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

On Saturday in his team’s 80-63 loss against Syracuse, the electrifying guard stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, seven assists, and four rebounds. His best performance of the season came against Notre Dame on January 10th, when he stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and one block.

His sophomore season at Georgia Tech, Smith scored a season-high 16 points at North Carolina.

Before enrolling at Georgia Tech in the summer of 2021, he played his freshman season for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, where he averaged 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in 33 games.

Coming out of Grayson High School (Grayson, Georgia), Smith was a four-star prospect in the 2020 cycle. As a senior, he was named the 2020 Gwinnett Prep Sports Player of the Year after he averaged 17.6 points, 8.3 assists, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game. His junior season, Smith guided Grayson to a 25-4 overall record and to the state final four. That season, he averaged 17.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.
