WATCH: Chris Olave ties Ohio State career receiving touchdown record
Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave is one touchdown away from being in a class of his own.
Olave caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from CJ Stroud on Ohio State’s first drive against Michigan State to take a 7-0 lead. It was the 34th career receiving touchdown of Olave’s career — tying him with David Boston for the Buckeyes career record.
It was Olave’s 12th receiving touchdown of the year, adding to his Big Ten lead in the category.
The Buckeyes passing game was firing on all cylinders on the first drive against Michigan State. Stroud completed 9 of 10 passes for 76 yards and that touchdown pass to Olave. Olave and Garrett Wilson combined for 70 of those yards.
No. 4 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan State are currently facing off on ABC. The Buckeyes entered the game as 20-point favorites over the Spartans.
Ryan Day discusses how Ohio State has changed since Oregon loss
Ohio State was criticized after losing to Oregon back on Sept. 11 at home, and many people even wrote off the rest of OSU’s season. But that hasn’t seem to faze the Buckeyes. Since that loss to Oregon, Ohio State has reeled off eight straight wins and is now 9-1 overall, 7-0 in Big Ten play and ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff Top 25 heading into Saturday’s marquee matchup with No. 7 Michigan State in Columbus.

Coming off a dominating 59-31 win over Purdue last weekend at home, the Buckeyes have showed what they’re capable of doing – and they’re playing strong football heading down the stretch.
On Saturday morning’s College GameDay show on ESPN, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day spoke about how the Oregon loss changed his team and how they’ve reeled off win after win since then.
“I think we’re such a different team,” Day told the GameDay crew. “We were so inexperienced going into the season, and we’ve been through a lot this year. And I think about the seniors that are playing their last game here, they’ve been through a lot for the last four years. I think the combination of the experience and some of the youth has come together in the middle of the season. I talked to the team, it’s not about being the best team, it’s about playing the best today. And that’s what our focus has got to be. I think we’ve had a really good week of practice, and I think we’re ready to roll.”
