J.D. Pickell: Oregon has a 'grown man' in WR commit Jurrion Dickey
For more than two months, one of the nation’s best receivers has been committed to Oregon. San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian wide receiver Jurrion Dickey is now also one of the best recruits in the country after earning five-star status in the latest iteration of the On300 rankings.
Dickey, the No. 15 overall prospect in the On300, was discussed on a July 18 episode of The Hard Count with J.D. Pickell. According to Pickell, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said Dickey “made it easy” on the scouting staff to give him five-star status.
“(Power) was really straight up. He just said, ‘Jurrion Dickey, we’ve seen him at two of the national events recently. He was the best receiver at both of them,'” Pickell said. “Out of all the top guys, a lot of the top guys were there that also had a lot of stars next to him and he said Jurrion Dickey was the best receiver.”
Pickell added that the 6-foot-2.5, 210 pound wideout has a unique combination of size and speed. He also ran an electronic 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.

“Now I want to make sure I emphasize this,” Pickell said. “A lot of people out there that say they run a 4.3 or 4.4 are hand-timed by their head coach at their high school and it’s not really a legitimate 40 time. To be 6(-foot-)2.5, over 210 pounds and to run a 4.5 electronic 40 time is stupid. It is just ridiculous that a man that size is running that fast. He’s a grown man physically.”
Dickey, the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 3 player in California in the On300, has also proved himself on the field. As a junior, he recorded 1,304 yards and 19 touchdowns against some of the best teams in Northern California. He also was the top receiver at The Opening Finals before his junior year. That productivity, according to Pickell, is something that Power “loved” about Dickey as a football player.
The wide receiver may have more chances for big games with the Ducks. Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class also includes Detroit Martin Luther King four-star quarterback Dante Moore.
