Springfield (Ohio) four-star cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. took an unofficial visit to Penn State on Friday. It was his second visit to Happy Valley and he shared pictures from the trip to Twitter.

Scott Jr. is the No. 38 overall prospect and No. 4 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Ohio.

On3 rates Scott Jr. higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 11 overall prospect, No. 2 cornerback and No. 1 player in Ohio.

The 5-foot-11.5, 165-pounder holds offers from several Power Five programs and according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State has a commanding lead for his commitment at 95.2%.

Scott narrowed his list of top schools down to 12 on April 9 and included Penn State among that group. The other 11 schools included were Oregon, USC, Michigan, Ohio State., Florida State, Louisville, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pitt, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame.

“They are really developing players,” Scott told Hayes Fawcett.

Scott’s trip back to Penn State was his first since January. Penn State extended an offer to Scott last September.

“They’ve been on me since they offered,” Scott told On3 in March. “When the roll happened when they could start talking to sophomores again, that’s when they really got on me again. I’ve been talking to them for a minute, but they talk to me the same amount, a lot. Every other day, going on a couple phone calls a week.”

Penn State hot on the recruiting trail

Ohio State may be the favorite to land Scott’s commitment but if Penn State were to secure his commitment, it would be a massive win on the trail for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State currently has eight commitments in its 2024 class. That class ranks as the No. 11 class in the country and the No. 3 class in the Big Ten. They finished the 2023 recruiting cycle with 23 signees, the No. 14 class in the country and the No. 2 class in the Big Ten.

Of the Nittany Lions’ eight commitments, three have come in April in four-star athlete Quinton Martin, four-star cornerback Jon Mitchell and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter.

Penn State also secured March commitments from three-star cornerback Kenny Woseley and three-star tight end Luke Reynolds.

The Nittany Lions’ three other commitments are four-star interior offensive lineman Cooper Cousins, three-star linebacker Anthony Speca and three-star linebacker Kari Jackson.
