Bijan Robinson explains decision to enter NFL Draft
Bijan Robinson made the biggest decision of his life this morning with his announcement that he would officially be entering the 2023 NFL Draft. The star running back out of Texas called it a college football career earlier today. Then, later in his press conference, he broke down the path that led him to that choice.
Robinson wanted to make sure everyone knew what a difficult decision this was for him. However, through this process, he felt that the position he plays meant that he needed to maximize the yards he still has left on his legs by using them in the NFL rather than another season in Austin.
“It was definitely a hard decision,” Robinson said. “For me, being a running back, it’s smart to keep the wheels on your body fresh when you do want to go to the NFL. I thought that this was just the perfect time to go and do that.”
Robinson will end his time at Texas with 3,410 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground. He will also finish with 60 catches over his three seasons for an additional 805 yards and eight touchdowns.

In the end, this decision did come down to more than just money, accolades, or even sports. This choice was so drawn out for Robinson because of the Texas program and people who both are involved with it as well as cheer for it. Still, he had a future to consider. Based on his status as a top prospect in this draft, Robinson says he felt he couldn’t gamble it.
“The reason why it was hard was because I just love it here. I just love everything about this place,” said Robinson. “I love this fanbase, the coaching staff, the people here…That’s definitely why it was such a hard decision. And I just kind of thought about it for a little bit longer than people thought. But it was a tough one and I knew that it had to be made for my future.”
Robinson will go down as an all-time great Texas player for the production he had while on The 40 Acres. While he could have added to that illustrious career with one last season as a senior, though, he’s now off to the pros to make living off of the game he loves.
