According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Texas defensive lineman Lavon Johnson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson came to Austin via the Maryland Terrapins, only spending one season with the Longhorns. New destinations await as Johnson looks for his third school in as many years.

Johnson was a much-needed piece for Texas out of last season’s portal cycle. Defensive tackles were running thin inside the program after losing multiple to the NFL. A solid role was carved out for Johnson in Pete Kwiatkowski‘s unit.

This all came for a surprise, at least from the outside. Originally, Johnson signed on to play at North Carolina in Bill Belichick’s first season. A last-second move was made by Johnson to compete in the SEC.

Seven games were played by Johnson, five of which were SEC contests. This does include Wednesday’s Citrus Bowl against Michigan. Johnson recorded a total of five tackles and even got a tackle for a loss against Sam Houston.

Johnson played high school football at Allentown (PA) Cheshire Academy, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,303 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The official Texas roster bio of Johnson listed him as a junior. So, at least one more season of eligibility remains for Johnson at his next destination.

Texas loses wide receiver to NCAA transfer portal

Texas wide receiver Parker Livingstone plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Livingstone just wrapped up his second season with the program and saw an increased role in 2025. Now, the goal appears to be finding a new home for the 2026 campaign.

Livingstone played in all 12 regular season games for Texas, hauling in 25 receptions for 491 yards and six touchdowns. This comes a year after only getting onto the field on four occasions and not putting up any stats. He and Arch Manning built a solid connection, especially when it came to finding the end zone.

Two touchdowns were recorded in one game on a couple of occasions. The first came in a nonconference showdown vs. San Jose State, a game where Texas struggled at times. However, the other one was in the massive comeback victory over Mississippi State. Every single point was needed in Starkville and Livingstone helped put two touchdowns on the board.
