4-star CB Marcelles Williams returns to USC
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star cornerback Marcelles Williams is very familiar with USC, since his brother — Max Williams — plays for the Trojans. As a result, he has visited USC’s campus numerous times.
Williams was back in Los Angeles on Thursday, which marked his latest spring trip. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound defensive back is set to see Oklahoma on March 25 and Ohio State on April 1. He also went to LSU on March 13.
“Right now, I’m just thinking about my options,” Williams told On3’s Chad Simmons on Feb. 9. “I’m not trying to rush the decision, but I do want to make my decision before the season, so around June, July, when I’ll be able to start taking officials. That’s when I feel like I’ll be able to trim my list down and finally come to my decision.”
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USC is leading for his commitment at 47.3%. He is currently feeling like a priority to head coach Lincoln Riley and his staff.
“There is no doubt about that,” Williams recently told Scott Schrader of WeAreSC. “A lot of schools see me playing anywhere in the defensive backfield. But I specifically like playing cornerback. That’s my favorite position.”
Williams also told Schrader that he plans to use all of his official visits. One of them will be to the Trojans.

“They’ve shown me it’s not the same old USC that I’ve been to the past four or five years,” Williams said to Schrader. “It’s a lot different. There’s a lot energy and it’s very organized.

“There’s a foundation and the coaches will probably be there a while. Coach Donte (Williams) probably won’t be going anywhere unless he gets a big promotion. Lincoln Riley even talked about it, too. He said you don’t leave what he had at Oklahoma to move somewhere he didn’t plan to be at for a long time. He doesn’t see himself leaving anytime soon, if ever.”
Four other schools are also standing out to Williams, who announced his top 12 earlier this month. He broke down those programs with Simmons.
LSU: “It’s just the tradition. All the DBs, I just would love to be a part of that.”
Miami: “Right when I got there, I got greeted by all the coaches. They all knew me. They all talked about me and that they loved my film. They went over that. I already had a good relationship with coach (Jahmile) Addae, the DB coach, because I met him a while back.”
Michigan: “Coach (Steve Clinkscale) is a really good guy. He’s always at Bosco. He comes around.”
Washington: “I just like the relationship with the coaches. They’re always talking to my parents, talking to me. They’ve been trying to get me up there for a while now.”
