Women's basketball takeaways: 11/28 edition
It was a loaded day of women’s hoops. Here are my takeaways.
1. FGCU manages big upset over Stanford
In just her fifth game as a Division I head coach, FGCU’s Raina Harmon guided the Eagles to a statement win: a 66–62 upset over previously undefeated Stanford on Friday night.
“I said, ‘Hey guys, we have an opportunity to do something that no other person that’s worn an FGCU uniform has had the opportunity to do – and that’s to beat Stanford,’” head coach Raina Harmon told On3. “And they did.”
The win came against a Cardinal team that entered the night 7–0 and received votes in the AP Poll. It’s also a signature moment for Harmon’s brand-new roster, which has navigated an extremely tough non-conference schedule early on.

2. Wake Forest = last undefeated ACC team
With Stanford’s loss, there’s only one undefeated team remaining in the ACC: Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are 9-0, and while they may not have a resume win, it’s impressive nonetheless.
The team finished 9-20 overall last season and have already matched that win total. This was a big year for head coach Megan Gebbia and the Demon Deacons have delivered thus far.
