Dunham (La.) QB Elijah Haven accounts for eight touchdowns in wondrous performance

Those who follow recruiting are already well-aware of Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham five-star quarterback Elijah Haven. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound gunslinger is the No. 1 QB prospect in the 2027 cycle.
On Thursday night in his second game of the season, Haven put on an unbelievable show. In a 63-42 win over Live Oak, he accounted for eight touchdowns and 535 total yards.
Completing 21 of 30 pass attempts for 402 yards, six of his scores came through the air. He also rushed for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a masterful performance as Dunham improved to 2-0 on the year.
The connection with senior wide receiver Jarvis Washington was prevalent on Thursday night. The two linked up on the first play of the day for a long score to set the tone. Washington, a South Alabama commit, hauled in 11 completions for 259 yards and four scores.
Five of Haven’s six passing touchdowns came in the first half. He had 10 total carries, one of which was a 52-yard scamper to the end zone. The five-star was more than dominant as he continues to bolster his stock as one of the top high school prospects in the nation regardless of class.
This is nothing new for Haven, either. As a sophomore, he threw for over 1,800 yards, ran for over 400 and tallied 39 touchdowns. He entered this fall with over 60 scores to his name through two seasons. If Thursday night’s performance is any indication, Haven will be gunning for Louisiana state records by the time he departs to college.
Dunham has produced one five-star before in former LSU star and current Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley, the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2019 cycle. Haven is staying home this weekend and will be at LSU for its matchup against Florida on Saturday. The Gators, though, are the team currently trending to land the top junior, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.

In addition to being the No. 1 QB in the 2027 cycle, he also checks in as the No. 15 prospect nationally, per the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. Penn State, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Auburn are other programs slated to get him on campus this fall.
“What’s paramount for us is development and stability,” Kwame Haven, Elijah’s father, told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman on Sept. 10. “We’re looking for a program that can develop Elijah. He’s expressed his willingness and goal to make it to the NFL, programs with a pedigree of QB development, and with a stable environment.”
Dunham entered this week ranked as the No. 40 team in Louisiana, per the Massey Ratings. The Tigers are set to return to action next week at home against St. Charles Catholic. There is currently no top-25 team in the state on Dunham’s schedule.
