I felt this way most of the year. But that game tonight was one he 100% would’ve blown the last few years, and Acuff is so freaking good it doesn’t matter. Idk I hope I am wrong

He needed a fresh start as did we. I think losing Dewayne Peevy was the worst loss he ever suffered. Not St Peter’s. Not Oakland. Not Evansville. Not UNCG. Peevy was hired at DePaul in August of 2020. And wouldn’t you know it…. After 2020, Cal was never the same here. Cal got his fresh start and he clearly didn’t lose his juice on the recruiting trail. We got a fresh start and a coach who, even with a map, has a hard time finding the recruiting trail, let alone doing anything with it.

Extra emotion in that game, just like how Cal beat our asses in Rupp last year. Both teams took advantage of the extra emotion

Ark is lacking in the interior. If they make it to Sunday, FL will dismantle them. But if you think Cal built a team this year, wait until next year. BTW, we can keep telling ourselves that he wouldn’t have done this here if that makes us feel better. Most ridiculous take ever.

Just checked his stat line too….. Played all 40. 52/55/83 shooting splits. 37 points. 5 rebounds. 5 assists. 3 steals. Sheesh.

They could get hot or lose in the first round. Similar to the UK 24 team but with less talent. Play absolutely no defense. Acuff is better than anyone on that team though and could carry them if he’s hot. If he’s not then they lose rd 1

His time here was over. The last five years showed us he wasn’t going to “do this here” anymore. If he was, he wouldn’t have let the ship sink as much as it did. Both sides needed a fresh start. We just seemed to have hired the wrong guy - to me, at least, through almost two years now he’s done absolutely nothing to make me think he’s the right one. I find it hard to believe Cal was ever winning big at Kentucky again. Had a feeling he still has some motion left though. Hate that it’s within the conference. But such is life.

The ceiling is elite 8 for that group imo. Acuff is the best pg in the country but he doesn’t have enough pieces around him to overcome Cals lack of an offensive system. They can definitely overpower the first couple teams they play but their 3rd 4th and 5th options aren’t good enough to beat you once Acuff either has an off night or gets game planned out. Plus Ewin is not good at basketball and gets a ton of minutes for some reason, I would bet money that he ends up being their downfall.

God help ‘em if Acuff can’t stay healthy or has a bad night. Their bigs are atrocious.

Not ridiculous at all in that Calipari hadn't beaten at least 2 teams in the SEC tourney since 2018 (Missouri was probably the best team UK had beaten in SEC tournament since then sadly). Both Barnhart and him were responsbile for the decline of basketball. Barnhart for his ridiculous contract and alienation with Calipari, and Calipari for his stubborn attitude toward lineups and lack of in game adjustments. Now they're both gone, so Kentucky should finally be able to move forward as a program.

It was good for everybody to get a fresh start. We just made a bad hire. All this just stings a lot more when we are a 9th seed in the SEC and more than likely won’t make it past the first weekend of the tournament.

Not worried about Arkansas . One man team and they cant guard a parked car. S16 is their ceiling just like ours

It’s funny how our minds work. All of a sudden we think cal with go on a run and win but if he was here with his same team, we would have no faith in that happening

With the exception of 2021, Cal’s teams were far, far more successful in the regular season and earned a double bye and didn’t get to play on Wednesday and Thursdays against the weaker teams. He got the double bye which meant they had to play against teams that had already won a game or two. So let’s not celebrate these two wins like they were an accomplishment. Basically they won play in games just to get to the point where the double bye teams were.

I understand your point. But disagree with it. We had regular season success every year except 2021, which was an odd year unlike any other in history. Regardless, it was a disaster. Otherwise, the regular seasons were essentially up to UK standards. Now the postseasons, no, they weren’t. They had a bad run, no doubt. So, IMO, we cut our post season noses off in spite of our regular season faces. So now, we‘ve gone from double byes in the SECT to playing on a Thursday and now a Wednesday. The days of 2 or 3 seeds in the NCAAT are done as well. I‘m obviously a Cal fan, always have been and always will be. And unfortunately, until his ghost is put to rest at UK, these debates will exist and I will continue to refute the anti-Cal folks.
