If Freeman leaves who’s on the short list

LOL this one got me man, good work. But the first call has to be to Lea IMO. Lots of good coaches out there but as UM is finding out (not suggesting we are the total poop show that they are) it's hard to find a coach right now once rosters and staffs are pretty much set.

Lea is at his his Alma mater and if he keeps it as a perennial winner then he will be a god there. Don’t see him leaving.

Lea, Elko, Dillingham (a but eccentric but a good energetic young coach), Jason Garrett (I think he would be good at ND), Golden, and possibly Brown from Syracuse if he has a good year this coming season. There is smoke around Brohm And the way he treats people that worries me otherwise he would be a good fit. I don’t think Freeman leaves right now. He has a great QB coming back and the nucleus of a very good team that can win it all next season. Plus he has a top 2-3 recruiting class coming in as early entry in January and another Top 5 recruiting class for next year shaping up. he would be crazy to leave right now. I can see him leaving in two years after winning a championship. IMO if he was leaving right now, Al Washington would have taken the BC DC job and Mickens would be taking a DC college job. Also I don’t see Freeman as being a guy who promises the recruits he is staying at ND (they certainly asked because of all the rumors) who gave verbal commitments the last 10 days or the 27 kids that just signed letters of intent two weeks ago and then walks away.

IF it happend (which I don't expect that it does), my first call would be to Clark Lea, and I'd force him to say no

Lea I’m still not 100% sold on him. Let’s see what happens next year. Elko all would be forgiven. Lanning I know it’s far fetched and his comments would be all forgotten about. Lance Taylor he was here for a little bit. Seems to have done well at WM. I don’t know his overall record, but did win 10 games this season. Cignetti probably a long shot , but at least take a swing

Freeman needs to cut bait or get the hell out. If he wasn't interested in the Giants position I'm not sure why he would be cuz we can match dollar for a dollar, then he needs to come out and say "hey I'm not interested I'm coming back to Notre Dame to coach. my goal is to get us a national championship," blah blah blah
