The Athletic has a story up today suggesting that Duke may be less hateable than ever.
My view is this is just the byproduct of college brands being diminished. You aren't cheering against some scrappy kid who picked Duke because he's a floor slapping charge taker, you're just cheering against someone who everyone knows picked Duke because it's more money for a year.
Thoughts?
Not sure if everyone can read it but many should be able to.

I think when it was Wojo, Battier, etc., and they're around for longer, they come to embody the things you hate about the program. But when it's more about one or two year rentals it humanizes the opponent a little bit and you know it's just a money decision. I get it, though. UK fans may always hate 'em.

I obviously still hate them but I wonder if part of it is because guys don't stick around 4 years to really build a rapport of sorts with fans across the country. Seeing unlikable Dookies out there year after year really built up a deep hatred of their teams for me

I’ve never really hated them … like Tennessee or the Tards … but with Coach K gone there is less luster. And Cam Boozer is a hell of a player!!!

As long as I'm alive there will always be one that hates Duke basketball, as for football I don't have an opinion about Duke football!

Like most teams who are better than Kentucky, at present, I am inclined to hate them. Nope, I’m sure of it….I hate em.

Considering Duke and the “Brotherhood” narrative along with the over the top media love fest including ESPN’s lead college analyst and CBS lead analyst are both Duke guys (imagine both networks would do that) they have a built in advantage over other programs….growing up in the 70’s and early 80’s Duke was Northwestern and nobody even gave them a second look…Coach K, Team USA, Nike/Phil Knight and the media love makes them still easy to hate… https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7146561/2026/03/26/duke-blue-devils-mens-basketball-hate-villains

If Duke was a person I’d invite em to choke on me.
Disagree.
