It's going to take the higher ups to put a stop to the insanity.

Coaching candidates running for the hills. This is an example of how to go from perhaps the most attractive opening to the worst.

Speaks to the arrogance of today's political environment. Good luck with that LSU.

This is how you end up with Bob Caslen as your university president.

What a pitch to coaches out there. Come down to LSU where there’s no current university president (can’t imagine why Tate got outta there), work for an AD that may or may not have wanted someone else and in a state where the governor doesn’t mind getting involved…..

Maybe it’s not a good thing the politico is doing this, but the AD is getting his due. Right message sent, maybe the wrong messenger.

Shocking. A lot of people on here claim the AD makes all the decisions. Amazing how there can be people involved at the State-level who have authority to limit and have limited the power of the AD. Interesting.

I don't understand the "renegotiation" of Kelly's buyout . LSU owes him 50 or 53 Million, I can't remember the exact amt, but what are they negotiating ? I would assume that detail is worked out before he is hired ,as in a lump sum payout , or so much paid monthly, yearly what ever they agreed upon. Nothing to negotiate except if you get another job and again that would have been covered up front...imho

If the governor is not on the BOT for LSU or a major booster, then he needs to let the university due their job.

Beehaver said:I don’t have all of the details but there are two important things (1) payment schedule and (2) mitigation clause enforcement that can be “renegotiated” post-termination. This can be seen through one flat check now to end any and all future claims. The schools may play less overall and the coach gets more money now than he would get in the first check.I don't understand the "renegotiation" of Kelly's buyout . Love this...
“I’m not gonna be picking the next coach. But I can promise you, we’re going to pick a coach and we’re going to make sure that that coach is successful and we’re going to make sure that he’s compensated properly and we’re going to put metrics on it because I’m tired of rewarding failure in this country and then leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill.”
