Just like Penn State, they made almost as an embarrassing a process as possible, but backed into hiring a really good coach.

@ChrisBalas still thinks there is a 60% chance DeBoer is their next head coach

That’s the plan- ‘Just wait until Bama fans run him off.’

Christ the delusion. Sad thing is Whittingham is low key a very good hire and the right guy to clean up that mess.

I know we've all had fun making fun of the fort and their mods, but more so than Balas or the guys who work at the fort, Michigan's decision-making apparatus really showed their *ss thinking they could nab a coach from Alabama and banking on that hard for 3+ weeks, especially considering their current situation. I think the information Balas was hearing was correct as far as "We think we can get DeBoer" from decision makers at UM, it's just that the people who were making those statements to his insiders were assuming DeBoer would be willing to come, when in fact he was not and never was, they were speaking on a check they could not cash but hubris in the UM brand from their decision-making apparatus then to their fans made them keep thinking it was a real possibility. Should Balas have been as quick to post all that interest in DeBoer as he was considering it was all one-sided instead of letting this search play out? (like what our mods would have done), I would say yes.

Pretty good hire, all things considered. Lucked into because Utah actually wanted to follow though on a coach-in-waiting Sounds like he may bring in his former OC. Would be good for those Michigan fans who want “Michigan football.”

The craziest thing to me is how many of their fans were having cataclysmic meltdowns over the prospect of hiring Whittingham - despite the current state of their program. This is as good of a hire as they could have dreamed of, IMO.

Let the record show… @ChrisBalas knew absolutely nothing about this search from day one.

This would’ve been a home run hire in 2012. What an unserious program. They waited this long to hire this guy? @ChrisBalas was probably *this* close to telling them that Michigan was going to wait for DeBoer to lose his spring game to make a serious run at him.

They refuse to acknowledge the train wreck. Despite the first hand accounts and Biff plainly describing it.

Tried to force it into the narrative. Never was a real option. Deboer is ours for the long haul. Rtr.

They didn’t wait, their options were much more limited than they expected. Their main targets were not leaving good situations to go there and Kyle was just pushed out so he will take any gig.

I’m waiting on the ‘Whittingham was the No.1 guy on the list the entire time’ reports to surface.
