Gotta keep Felix out of foul trouble.

It's interesting the size they have and they are middle of the conference in rebounding and shot blocking. The biggest key for our bigs is defending on the perimeter because those 6'10 and 6'11 guys will shoot the three. Our guards being able to rebound is just as critical tonight.

Don’t they have a guy that’s like 7’-4”? He looked slow and awkward, but he’ll probably play like Ralph Sampson.

They have a 6'10" guy who plays on the wing (Pierce) who has had some good games for them. Several games over 20 points. 40% 3 point shooter. I'd put Ament on him.

Carey has trouble with length. Need Felix to get plenty of minutes.

Yet we have female athletes in their 40s skiing on completely torn ACLs. Tennessee sports nutrition is the most conservative department in all of sports, pro or college.

Admire the grit & courage, but she very nearly suffered an amputation.

I don’t think Carey struggles that much with height as he does mass. Guys that don’t get bullied by him gives him problems. FWIW I have no idea if Mizzou s big guys are big or skinny.

She almost lost her leg in her early 40s and will probably never see a slope again. She might not walk normally for the rest of her life. Impossible to now if she’d have had that crash without her acl injury, but maybe not. Not sure this is the example you want to use.

They are a big frontline team and have a solid backcourt. UT will have to outwork them on the boards and keep them from settling in the paint.

Mizzou is bad a bad defensive team and turns the ball over. Gillespie and Boz should get some steals

This. He is their only big who shoots well from three. Mitchell is their best player, and is listed as a guard at 6'8, but he averages 31% from Three point range -- 28% at home. Carey needs to use his beef to keep Phillips, their 7'0 starting center, off the offensive glass. He has zero perimeter game. Estrella would be a nice resource to have tonight. We may start with Okpara on Mitchell. I haven't watched a lot of Mizzou, but I did see most of the Arkansas game. Mitchell doesn't seem that quick. They are big, but not overly athletic. I think Dwayne Brown may also be able to guard Mitchell. It's probably going to be one of those games where we have Evans guarding Pierce when Ament is on the bench. Not sure what his shot chart looks like, but Pierce only gets 3.9 rebounds per game. It doesn't appear that he uses his size very much in the post. Every guy we played against Vandy (plus JP) other than Evans, Gillespie and Berg average more rebounds than that. A couple of other interesting stats. Both teams average the same number of turnovers, but we average about 1.5 steals more per game than they do. And, unbelievably, they are actually a worse FT shooting team than we are. Mitchell is bad at 65%, but Phillips is terrible. He shoots 4 or 5% worse than Carey. It's almost a Mizzou turnover when you foul Phillips.

So you want the training staff, led by Chad Newman who is noted as one of the best in the business, to allow JP to play on a sore foot that he’s already had surgery on when he’s less than 100%? And you want that to happen when it’s at a point in the season where you can try to rest him and get him healthy for the part of the season that actually matters? And, on top of that, you’re comparing his situation to that of a 41 year old woman on her very last chance to compete in the Olympics (the highest level of competition in her sport) risking it all? You do all of this while failing to mention that the very thing she did that you’re advocating for JP to do resulted in a horrific injury that almost cost her her leg?

Fully expect them to go 80+% at the line like Syracuse did against us.

Double digit turnovers and it’s close or may lose..Under 10 turnovers we run them out the gym Not a great matchup for us though and thankfully we played them late as they beat us earlier in year

They have had bodyguards playing hoops for them for a few years. They just beat on you, get three fouls, bring in another big goon, gets three fouls, beat goes on. Not popular, but we need Carey to be Dave Semenko tonight for Ament.

I was waiting for someone to say her ACL caused the accident. She flat out said it had nothing to do with her knee, she took a too aggressive line and her pole got hooked in the gate. I thought this story dispelled all the graspers assuming her ACL caused the injury.

It’s not that. It’s just it could be too big of a risk for CRB to do that(play him if not 100%) ready. That was her last rodeo. JP has many more to Lasso.

Of course she’s going to say that the ACL had nothing to do with it, but no one knows that for certain. Athletes often over compensate for an injury and she was so hell bent on trying to accomplish her goal that she was never going to let that stop her. Regardless of whether it was the cause, it was a factor as her decision making was influenced by the knee injury. JP is young. There’s no reason to risk his future for a road game at Missouri. In fact, he has probably exacerbated the injury by trying to play without mentioning the soreness earlier. So, again, resting it is the right move for the stretch run, but keep being critical of the training staff.
