Blank check for a WR who had 3 TDs in SEC play…
4 receptions for 26 yards before fumbling the game away vs Alabama was really impressive though.

Hearsay. Even SEC general managers “well, I heard this”
Ridiculous that this is the state of college football.

Insightful but as with most things involved in these types of articles, pure conjecture and "i thinks". The one guy about Seaton ranged his "guess" from 3 to 6 mil. I couldve gave Nakos that range of numbers and wasnt involved at all. So essentially somewhat informed guesses. Very little based in fact. Nakos reporting is always full of that type of reporting. Felix Ojo's commitment/contract articles exposed his style of reporting. The numbers went from 1.5 to half that in less than 24 hours. Guess which one lead the reporting? Click bait
Also the anonymity leads to lies being passed as truth. You can kind of decipher in the Cam Coleman stuff who theyre talking to, TAM as ON3 national reporters(Wiltfong and Nakos) have strong ins with that staff, as shown through the weekly TAM favored articles weekly released on this network. Cant put any stock in either side of that rivalry talking about the other.
The LSU highest paid roster stuff, while maybe true, isn't based on anything but who we signed in the portal. While they have the retention portion of the article, no one polled in this article would have any idea what another school paid in retention therefore how would they possibly know the total roster cost? They dont. Again conjecture based purely on who signed who in the portal. We signed 40 players so of course we likely spent the most particularly when 3-4 of the highest paid players in the portal signed here. Contrary to that our retention cost was significantly lower than every other school mentioned in that article. We signed half the roster from the portal. But that wouldnt provide headlines like the lead paragraph did. Exclusion is often more telling than inclusion when it comes to information.
Also no mention of how hs recruiting costs factor into total roster cost. USCs 35 man class dwarfed our 15 man class in total cost just as our portal class dwarfed theirs. Essentially offsetting each other.
Basically a pure click bait article with no real insight that wasnt already publicly known/rumored with information compiled by people with axes to grind. A nothing burger. Fodder for message boards procuring clicks once again. Good for business but disingenuous to the paying customer. Sadly accepted practice in this age of media.

Click bait article, nobody knows how much portal guys got and even fewer know what roster retention costs.

Why would a big 12 general manager have anything definitive to say about how much money we spent in the portal lmao

Didn’t really see anything that surprising in the article and as mentioned a lot of conjecture. LK had to completely rebuild the roster plus retain top talent and did an amazing job so the $40m isn’t a surprise nor unusual given the situation we were in
