Man I really hope we see a good ROI here. $1 million for a special team coach who’s units may have 4-5 potential impactful plays a game is a lot.

1 million does seem like a lot for a ST coach. I for one thought still think it’s a homerun hire. Sorry if this has already been posted but a cool video on Rich from a “Bussin with the Boys” segment.

He’s gotta have a lot more responsibilities for the board to approve $1 million. I’m all for it by the way. Now let’s start spending money on talent

The fact that it’s only one year is what’s interesting to me. @Larry_Williams any insight to why?

I get the sense that our administration is over giving assistants multi year deals.

so will we attempt to block a punt, return a punt, or punt the ball inside the 10 yard line this season? Will we be able to block people trying to block our FGs? We are the most conservative team in the country on special teams...no one is even worried about it. They can trot 10 random guys from the stands and their punter out there knowing we are going to fair catch

It being only a one-year deal is a little strange. I don’t see him staying long anyway, especially if he’s looking to climb the ladder and become a head coach somewhere. I’m fine with a one-year “prove it” deal. I’ve been a Packers fan my whole life, and Green Bay and Clemson are similar in one way: neither program has really treated special teams like a priority. Paying a guy around $1 million definitely changes that at Clemson. If you’re paying someone that much, special teams better show up as a factor in every game. I didn’t think he was great with Green Bay, and they dealt with some of the same special teams issues Clemson has had. Still, I’m willing to take the wait-and-see approach and see what he can do. At the very least, it’s an upgrade from what we had.

If he has more responsibilities, are we letting go of the staff that had those responsibilities?

Maybe he can help Dabo with the time management portion of the game.

Green Bay had issues with getting kicks blocked too, so I guess we’ll see if that changes.

1 Million for a ST Cord?? Jeez louise no wonder Clemson was the only place he wanted to go. We better have a top 5 ST unit for that.

It'll be interesting to see how this venture goes. I liked Rich at LV and was pulling for him to get the job. I think the players really liked playing for him. I thought it was a no-brainer, but the Raider front office thought differently. I'm thinking there may be more responsibility coming for him if this experiment works out.

He doesn't need help with that ... according to him. Instincts!

Is McCorvey retiring and Bisaccia filling the coaching/program mentoring position?

Great! We have good coaches in place to coach our D2 level talent.
these comments are so freaking old and ridiculous. We have a roster full of national level prospects...hopefully we can develop them better than the last few years but for people to act like we don't have talent is just dumb

I think there’s something to this. Maybe not specifically about Woody retiring but RB’s role will be.
