If these guys want to be coaches they need to go cut their teeth elsewhere and maybe down the road they end up in Chapel Hill.

You also have to have a guy that is a great recruiter.

Berry was very clear in his comments this week on ACC network podcast that the family was open to a coach from outside. He stressed how important the donors are.

They should probably show some interest in a coaching career first. Plucking guys from behind the camera because they played at UNC isn't a qualitification anymore.

I heard Theo, Haywood, and Green say the same. Many of them preferred family, but understand it’s not possible at this time.

Why not Raymond Felton?

Not sure it would ever come to fruition, but Jawad makes the most sense of anyone. Barring crazy things that would never happen like stack or Wes (pre new job)

Would love to see him on the new staff in some capacity. Great personality and would kill it in recruiting. Joel Berry is another name I think would do well.
Id prefer Joel over Theo. Love Theo but I don’t think hes a great fit for the coaching staff. He has a ton of other talents though.

You still need to recruit with people that have the same money.

Theo has the personality to be director of social media and can host weekly podcasts with the players. We don’t take advantage of social media.

Can we move on from wanting players just because we loved them as players and people? We should have learned that there is so much more to being a successful coach. He has to be able to: Teach Know ball Evaluate players Teach Motivate Communicate Teach Organize Recruit Fundraise Use statistics and technology Make in-game adaptations Have strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills Know what makes players tick Teach

Love Theo. Dude is one of the funniest personalities to ever come through Chapel Hill. he said said he'd guard anybody, "even a bear, if coach told me to." lol But we gotta stop treating the UNC coaching staff like a Make-A-Wish program for every former player we loved watching. "Great personality and would kill it in recruiting" is not a coaching resume. Theo has zero coaching experience. Joel has zero coaching experience. Meanwhile Jawad is actually out there grinding and learning the right way. That's the difference. As Logan Roy would say "you are not serious people". We just fired a beloved Carolina guy because good vibes weren't enough to win. So the solution is… more good vibes guys with even less experience? Come on. If these guys want to coach at Carolina one day, awesome but go be an assistant somewhere for 5-10 years, learn the craft, build a track record, and earn it. Stop expecting to skip the line because you wore the jersey.

I, for one, have listened to Theo's podcast and think he has a ton of maturing to do....
