The national media & even Paul Finebaum have been downing the SEC. The SEC got 5 teams in the CFP. 1 of the 5 was eliminated by another SEC team (Bama over OK) in the initial round. Another SEC team lost to an ACC team.
In the quarterfinals 1 SEC team eliminated another (Ole Miss over UGA). Another lost to a Big 10 team IU over Bama).
Ole Miss lost in the semifinals.
In non-CFP bowl games by definition the best SEC team available was the 6th best team in the conference.
#6 Texas beat B10 #4 Michigan.
#7 Vandy lost to B10 #6 Iowa.
#8 Mizzou lost to ACC #2 UVA.
#9 Tennessee lost to B10 #7 ill.
#10 LSU lost to B12 #4 Houston.
#14 Miss St lost to ACC #8 WF.
In all 6 non-CFP bowls the SEC team faced an opponent who fared 1 to 6 slots higher in their conference. That’s a far cry from apples to apples comparison.
The pundits can’t even take the time to do minimal research. They just run w/ the skin deep story. It’s the SEC haters’ chance to stick in the knife.
Just some food for thought.

Not uncommon (back in the day) to see 6-5 SEC teams beating 8-3 or even 9-2 teams from lesser conferences.
“The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same.”
”Every dawg has his day.”
The portal, NIL has changed things for the SEC.
(More emphasis was put on football roster building / paying players ”through the back door”, by the SEC. More so than some of these other conferences.)
Now, everybody is paying players through the front door.
But, the SEC isn’t falling apart in football.
”The SEC - It just means more.”

It's no shame for the SEC to be down periodically. Other schools have good players, too.

We should be celebrating that the SEC isnt as deep and dominant in the NIL era, yet we go out of our way to defend the league.
The goal for everyone on here is for SOURTH CAROLINA to to have a better chance to win
We should not “pull” for the other 15 teams who we are in direct competion with
Again. No other Fans of a league in the world does this.

I question whether it’s as down as the pundits would suggest. The B10 has stepped up their game in the NIL era. Bigger cities have bigger audiences, which leads to bigger marketing deals.

Cristobal is is pretty disciplined You dont beat Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Ole Miss without being well coached and disciplined. Yet people call them “thugs” because of stuff that happened 30 years ago. It’s something I will never understand. The amount of people rooting for the rebels on here was crazy.

Ole Miss hasn’t been nationally relevant since the 1950s. Do you think we have more recruiting battles w/ Ole Miss or UGA? How does the ascendancy of Miami help us recruit better?

The fact that cfb fans legitimately root for other teams in their own conference is one of the weirdest things about the sport. JMHO
Can you imagine a Cowboys fan pulling for the Redskins, Eagles or Giants? Or a Braves fan pulling for the Mets or Phillies? Heck no! Why on earth would anyone pull for the teams that they compete against in everything??
Where I grew up, we didn't root for the teams in our division in high school athletics. We HATED the other teams in our region!
