The TRO is for 15 days. Hearing set for Friday in court. The next step is attempting to get a preliminary injunction, which would increase likelihood that Aguilar plays in 2026. But it still is not a guarantee. The season is a long way away and there would surely be NCAA appeals.

I just don’t know that this is the best thing for anyone involved except Joey. It’s not good for the NCAA. I’m not 100% certain it’s good for Tennessee. It’s not good younger players. I like Joey… But I think it’s best to move on. I wish we had upgraded at the QB position in the portal.

Juco is separate from NCAA ball. It’s obviously great for TN or we would t be pushing for it. HS players are getting big money out of school now so it being more competitive is just a result of the chance at additional earnings for them now.

Is it the same judge for the injuction hearing?

Why is it not good for the NCAA? Why was Diego Pavia playing last year bad for them? People keep saying this but I have yet to hear a good argument for it.

I mean - when it's spelled out like this... [QUOTE] He wrote as follows:
  • Plaintiff has demonstrated a substantial likelihood of success on the merits of his claim that the NCAA’s “JUCO rule” violates the Tennessee Trade Practices Act.
  • Immediate and irreparable injury will result to the Plaintiff if the restraining order is not issued. Every day that Aguilar’s future remains uncertain leaves him unable to prepare for the next step of his career.
  • The balance of harms favor Plaintiff. The requested relief runs only to Aguilar. And the NCAA suffers no harm is Aguilar can play NCAA football for a fourth full season. The NCAA waived the JUCO rule for Aguilar and hundreds of other athletes in 2025.
  • No adequate remedy of law exists before a hearing can be had due to the time-sensitive nature of Plaintiff’s claim. Each day that passes leaves Aguilar unable to prepare and jeopardizes major career opportunities, lost time and opportunities that cannot be fully calculated or remedied with money damages.

I predict he will get the injunction and then the chancellor will say we can get you a trial next year. I also predict NCAA won’t push hard for an earlier date because they would rather not have a final ruling against them. Case closed at that point for eligibility purposes.

So, you’re worried about younger players but wish we would’ve taken a better QB from the portal? Contradict much? Now, to your overall point. It’s huge for 2026 UT football. Vols win total goes up 2 games with Joey.

I don't see how this is not good for younger players. I get that the age of the college athletic will go up due to this rule if no, Juco counted against them, but what about the players it would help? What about the guys that went to the small schools and they're being overlooked or somebody from a poor upbringing that's never had proper nutrition and a workout facility that two years of junior college ball may turn into a five star? As long as it's the same for every athlete to cross the board, it just changes the way we look at college football a little bit.

Historically your first sentence is wrong. That's exactly why this is all happening, why Pavia was allowed extra time with his waiver. Again, though nothing is set in stone as of yet and why kids are trying to get temporary waivers. Further HS players getting bank doesn't have anything to do with eligibility either. Which is the root of the entire issue i.e. should JUCO or Community College count against eligibility. IMO it should. It's still college, those credits count just like a 4 year school does. The best compromise would be an athlete has 5 to play 5 (barring medical RS) be it Juco or otherwise.

Here is a great way to look at it. If a kid is held back in K-12 and graduates at 19, then takes a Post Grad year somewhere. Then enrolls into a NCAA institution. It would be the same as a kid spending 2 years at Juco. Why do the 2 years of NJCAA years count against your NCAA clock, but European Pro Basketball, being held back in K-12 or a Post Grad year not? Just give everyone 4 years to play NCAA Sports. That is a very simple rule to enforce. And is fair to all. What you do before you start your NCAA clock, shouldn't matter.

I’m not saying Joey is getting the injunction, but I’ll say that if the injunction is granted, the NCAA isn’t winning an appeal to overturn the injunction. Zero chance of that.

All of this covid year, extra time garbage is almost over I believe. We should start seeing more normal timelines starting in the next year. The main thing to nip in the bud right now is this pro players coming back stuff.

Why are young players making money more important? If they're good enough, they'll have their time too.

Who cares? NCAA been a dumpster fire for years. If they wanted to stop this, they had years to do it. I want a natty, and currently speaking Joey is our best option for that. College football hasn’t been college football since July 1, 2021. Get over it. GBO 🍊

Juco isn't under the ncaa. It’s glorified high school ball and in some cases worse. A lot of kids who previously would have gotten smaller school D1 scholarships are being forced to D2 and juco if they want to continue to play due to the vast # of portal transfers and schools preferring them over unproved HS kids that aren’t top level playeRs. Same thing for walk ons that no longer exist. Juco shouldn’t count. If the ncaa is defeated on this it does not open Pandora’s box as to years kids are allowed to play. It’s a very specific category of kids.

So we’ll know after the hearing on Friday if a judge gives Joey a preliminary injunction or not?
