AP Poll Top 25: College Football Rankings see shake up after Week 12
On3

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are here following Week 12 of the college football season and prepare to debate! Based on the results from the weekend, teams are surely going to jump, fall and well, maybe stand pat!

There was a slight shakeup in the SEC, the Big Ten stood pat, the Big 12 has its top team, the ACC is still a wild race and the Group of Five might have a new playoff contender. We’re coming down to the wire!

So let’s dive into the latest AP Poll rankings following Week 12. We’ll start with the top of the list.

1. Ohio State

Ohio State rolled its way to another victory to remain undefeated, this time, beating UCLA 48-10. The Buckeyes are 10-0 and atop the AP Poll for another week.

It was a well balanced offensive attack and UCLA didn’t get any offense going until the second half without Nico Iamaleava. Julian Sayin had 184 yards and a touchdown before taking a seat on the bench for rest. Onto the next one!

2. Indiana

That’s another win for Indiana! The Hoosiers just win, haven’t you googled them by now? Curt Cignetti has had this team near the top of the AP Poll all season.

Now at 11-0, Indiana is surely on the shortlist to win the national title. It’s still a ways away, but that’s how good this team from Bloomington is right now.

3. Texas A&M

Mike Elko’s contract extension came at the right time for Texas A&M right? The Aggies stayed high up the AP Poll and undefeated with an unreal comeback against South Carolina.

The Gamecocks were up 30-3 at halftime in College Station. Then, Texas A&M scored 28 unanswered after coming out of the locker room to get to 10-0 and all but lock up an SEC Championship Game appearance.

4. Georgia (+1)

Georgia had a season-defining performance against a hot Texas team. The gap between the two, at this time, was evident in Athens on Saturday night.

Kirby Smart and crew remained in the top five of the AP Poll and continued to make a CFP and SEC title push. Two games left, anything can happen.

5. Ole Miss (+1)

Ole Miss fought off an upset bid against Florida to stay in the top 10 of the AP Poll this week. Kewan Lacy was an absolute beast in this one, willing his team to victory, especially after some big defensive stops. He had 224 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Lane Kiffin and crew can all but taste the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. Perhaps they’re not out of the SEC title picture yet either!

T6. Texas Tech (+2)

Texas Tech improved to 10-1 on the year with two weeks to go in the regular season as they trounced UCF. That’s good for an AP Poll Top 10 spot!

Cameron Dickey and Reggie Virgil each scored two touchdowns on the ground in a rout. The Red Raiders will end with West Virginia in two weeks on the road.

T6. Oregon (+1)

Oregon won a hard fought, but sloppy game over Iowa last week. On Friday night, they made sure to keep their top 10 ranking in the AP Poll by halftime.

The Ducks took down Minnesota 42-13 at home to improve to 9-1. That lingering head to head loss to Indiana might keep them out of the Big Ten title game, but the College Football Playoff is in reach again.

8. Oklahoma (+3)

Oklahoma is back in the top 10 of the AP Poll as the knocked off Alabama on the road. It was a signature win in a down season last year, but the Sooners beefed up their CFP resume in a big way.

A lot of field goals and timely defense gave Oklahoma this win. Eli Bowen’s pick-six was key early in the game.

9. Notre Dame

Notre Dame won its eighth game in a row to remain in the top 10 of the AP Poll this week. Pitt was the latest Irish victim on the schedule.

Jeremiyah Love wants some Heisman respect and maybe we should give it to him. He had 147 yards and a touchdown in the 37-15 win.

10. Alabama (-6)

Alabama stayed in the top 10 of the AP Poll despite the home loss to Oklahoma. But Kalen DeBoer and crew couldn’t overcome their demons against the Sooners, losing 23-21.

The Crimson Tide had a chance by getting about to midfield on the final drive, but turned it over on downs. They’re now 8-2 overall and suffered their first SEC loss, snapping an eight-game winning streak overall.
