Arch Manning reveals conversations with Ty Simpson about keys to beating Oklahoma, Georgia

Saturday saw two crucial SEC games on the schedule as Alabama took on Oklahoma and Texas squared off against Georgia. It turns out, both the Crimson Tide and Longhorns’ quarterbacks tried to gain advantages.
Arch Manning said he and Ty Simpson spoke this week about beating Georgia and Oklahoma, respectively, ABC’s Holly Rowe reported. The two quarterbacks are close friends and talk regularly, and they decided to try and help each other out.
Alabama looked to extend its win streak to nine games with a victory over Oklahoma at Bryant-Denny Stadium, while Texas tried to avoid a dreaded third loss as it headed to Athens to take on Georgia. For Manning, it’s another chance to show the strides he’s made the last few weeks.
“He told us he went to an unusual source for a little inspiration this week on how to beat Georgia,” Rowe reported at halftime of Oklahoma at Alabama. “That’s his buddy Ty Simpson, the quarterback at Alabama. They are good friends. They talk on an almost weekly basis.
“Ty Simpson said, ‘I asked Arch about how I could beat Oklahoma today.’ … And he told Arch Manning on some keys to beating Georgia. So we’ll see if that quarterback brotherhood helps either guy, particularly here between the hedges tonight.”

Of course, Manning is going up against another surging quarterback in Georgia’s Gunner Stockton. Rowe said the Bulldogs coaching staff continues to throw more at Stockton ahead of their SEC finale on Saturday, and he seems to be progressing well every week.
“Between the hedges tonight, it is a tale of two quarterbacks who are trending in the right direction,” Rowe said. “For Georgia, Gunner Stockton has gotten better every week. In fact, the coaches told us they are putting more on his plate in the offense because they trust him, particularly throwing downfield more.
“If you look at the stats, he is one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC. But might surprise you is, so is Arch Manning. The last couple of weeks, he has really improved.”
Texas at Georgia is shaping up to be one of the most interesting games on the Week 12 slate as both teams look to keep pace in both the SEC and College Football Playoff races. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
