There were some very surprising results from the Week 2 slate across college football over the weekend. With some big-time matchups and plenty of upsets, the rankings are likely to undergo major changes as the page turns to Week 3. That is apparent in the latest AP Top 25 predictions from CBS Sports.

The most talked about matchup from Week 2 was undoubtedly No. 1 Alabama vs. Texas. Many expected a major blowout from the hands of the Crimson Tide, but the Longhorns kept it close. The game came down to a field goal in the final seconds of the game, with Alabama escaping with a narrow 20-19 victory to improve to 2-0. Interestingly enough, CBS Sports thinks that the effort on Saturday could be enough for the Longhorns to enter the polls.

Just because Alabama squeaked by against Texas, though, doesn’t mean that Nick Saban’s squad will hold onto the No. 1 spot. In fact, CBS Sports predicts that Alabama will fall to No. 2, being replaced by SEC foe Georgia. The Bulldogs picked up a 33-0 victory over Samford on Saturday, also improving to 2-0 on the year.

Seven teams ranked in last week’s AP Top 25 lost in Week 2, with three of those coming in matchups between two top 25 teams. The most notable upset of the week was Texas A&M falling at home against Appalachian State, though Notre Dame also fell to 0-2 on the season with a crushing 26-21 loss against Marshall. Wisconsin also lost 17-14 to Washington State, while Houston fell in overtime against Texas Tech.

With a new No. 1 and plenty of movement throughout the rest of the rankings, CBS Sports is calling for some major shakeups in this week’s AP Top 25. Here is a full look at their predictions.
