Clemson transfer running back Marquise Henderson will sign with Liberty for the 2025 season, he announced Wednesday via X. He was set to be a true freshman for the Tigers this year but was dismissed by the team on June 19.

Henderson played high school football at Belton-Honea Path (SC), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 161 overall player and No. 11 running back in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Henderson led Belton-Honea Path to the 2024 state semifinals and had nearly 8,000 total yards across 47 career games. He had 6,369 career rushing yards at the time he signed with Clemson, averaging 11 yards per rush on 577 career carries. In his senior season at Belton-Honea Path, he rushed for 2,122 yards with 26 touchdowns.

Henderson had been on Clemson’s campus since the team was preparing to play in the College Football Playoff back in December. He missed the majority of spring practice due to a hamstring injury, however.

Marquise Henderson was the fourth-highest rated player from Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class. He committed to the Tigers over other Power 4 offers from programs such as Georgia Tech, NC State and Virginia Tech.

Clemson is coming off an ACC Championship this past season, but loses leading rusher Phil Mafah to the NFL. The loss of Henderson is another blow to the Tigers’ depth at the position, and that group will definitely be one to watch heading into the fall.

Anonymous ACC coach puts pressure on Cade Klubnik to carry Clemson in 2025

Cade Klubnik has been tabbed as one of, if not the best quarterback in the country heading into the 2025 college football season. After leading Clemson to an ACC Championship and subsequent College Football Playoff berth, expectations are through the roof for the Tigers QB1 in 2025.

One anonymous ACC recently spoke to Athlon Sports about Clemson’s outlook this season. The coach believes the team’s success will largely be predicated on the performances Klubnik delivers on a weekly basis this fall.

“How good is Cade [Klubnik], really? His ceiling defines their limit as a program,” the coach told Athlon Sports. “You should see a big jump as [Garrett] Riley’s playbook expands with him.”

2024 was Klubnik’s second season as the team’s starting quarterback, where he finished the season with over 3,600 passing yards and impressively, 36 touchdowns compared to six interceptions. His QBR (78.7) was ranked 12th-best in the country at the end of the season.
