The latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings were released following a wild Week 14 of college football. Rivalry weekend never disappoints does it?

The conference championship games are set, Lane Kiffin is about to leave for LSU and the CFP committee can’t wait to finalize a field. This is nuts!

So without further ado, let’s dive into the latest Coaches Poll rankings. We’ll start at the top.

1. Ohio State

Ohio State remained atop the Coaches Poll this weekend following its win over Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Buckeyes are 12-0 and will play for a Big Ten title against Indiana.

Dominant defense ruled the day as they shut down Michigan in the second half. Timely and balanced offense eventually found its way as well as Ryan Day broke a four-game losing streak to the Wolverines.

2. Indiana

Indiana is right behind Ohio State in the Coaches Poll and the Big Ten. But both teams will square off for the top spot in the CFP next week in the Big Ten Championship.

Purdue had no shot against the Hoosiers, who won 56-3 on the road. Curt Cignetti’s team has been a wagon all year and they are national championship material right now.

3. Georgia (+1)

Georgia finished 11-1 with a 16-9 win over Georgia Tech to end the regular season. They’re high up the Coaches Poll and will take on Alabama in next week’s SEC Championship.

The Bulldogs are probably assuredly in the playoff win or lose next week. But they can lock up a first round bye with a win.

4. Oregon (+1)

Oregon was business-like in a road win over Washington to basically lock up a College Football Playoff berth. At 11-1, this is a deserved top five team in the Coaches Poll.

Other than the head to head loss to Indiana, the Ducks have proven their merit as one of the best teams in the country. Now, can they go further than last year?

5. Ole Miss (+1)

Ole Miss is high up in the Coaches Poll again following an 11-1 campaign and Egg Bowl win. But the coaching conversation is around Lane Kiffin as he intends to take the LSU job.

That’ll send this College Football Playoff bound team for a spin. It’s actually quite insane considering a reported team meeting at 10 AM ET was pushed back to 2 PM ET. Kiffin is trying to pull as many staff members as possible to Baton Rouge, but it looks like Pete Golding isn’t one of them.

6. Texas Tech (+1)

Texas Tech is 11-1 and will play for a Big 12 title. Coaches Poll rankings aside, this is a simple win and you’re in-type of situation.

If they beat BYU for a second time, the Red Raiders will be CFP bound for the first time. A loss, well, let’s not talk about that just yet!

7. Texas A&M (-4)

Texas A&M didn’t fall out of the top 10 of the Coaches Poll with their loss to Texas in their rivalry game, but it knocked them out of the SEC Championship Game. Still, Mike Elko and crew finished 11-1 in the regular season.

That’ll be good enough for the College Football Playoff for the first time. It’s just a matter of where they will be seeded next weekend.

8. Oklahoma

The Sooners avoided disaster by edging out LSU Saturday night. WIth that, they remained in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll and likely got themselves a College Football Playoff spot.

What a turnaround for Brent Venables and crew, getting to 10-2 this year and will have a chance to compete for a national title. The adjustment to the SEC just took an extra year!

9. Notre Dame

Notre Dame wrapped up an impressive regular season with its 10th straight win, this time a dominant one over Stanford. Losses to Miami and Texas A&M loom on their resume, but recent CFP rankings have them in the field right now, or at least on the cusp.

The Irish remained in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll though, signaling they might have done enough to get into the dance again. It’s a wait and see approach.

10. Alabama

Kalen DeBoer got one of the biggest wins of his Alabama tenure, beating Auburn 27-20 in the Iron Bowl. A loss there would’ve dropped them from the SEC title game and probably the College Football PLayoff, again.

Now, they’ll play in Atlanta, stay in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll and have a chance to go on a run that Nick Saban was quite used to. Can they beat Georgia twice?
