College Football Playoff Top 25: Fourth Official 2025 CFP rankings revealed

The College Football Playoff rankings get another fresh look with an updated picture, again changing the perception of the top teams and their path to the final bracket. The latest look at the College Football Playoff Top 25 continues to narrow down which teams have a path toward the 12-team CFP bracket at the conclusion of the regular season will help shape the final week of the regular season.

The five highest-rated conference champions are guaranteed a spot in the field, but not a first-round bye. The remaining seven bids will be filled by seven at-large qualifiers who can be slotted according to their ranking.

A slight shift from last season’s format, this brings added clarity to the process throughout the season and ensures the top teams will benefit from their resume. Those who finish between 5-12 will participate in the first round, hosted by the higher seed before subsequent rounds are played at traditional bowl sites.

Through 13 weeks of results, here is how the selection committee ranked the Top 25 teams with a chance to earn their spot in the upcoming 12-team College Football Playoff. As the resumes continue to shift, the rankings will reflect the latest landscape.

1. Ohio State

Ohio State maintains an undefeated record in the College Football Playoff rankings, picking up another convincing win over Rutgers this week. The Buckeyes and Ryan Day continue to solidify their spot atop the rankings with a rivalry matchup left between them and the Big Ten title game.

2. Indiana

Indiana comes off a late-season bye week which sets them up to conclude the season against in-state rival Purdue. As Curt Cignetti look to finish the regular season undefeated, they are also playing for a spot in the Big Ten title game

3. Texas A&M

Texas A&M saw little resistance this week from Samford, setting them up for a chance to finish undefeated if they can win against in-state rival Texas. Mike Elko has a chance to lock his team into the SEC championship game with a win.

4. Georgia

Georgia faced Charlotte this week, taking care of business before facing in-state rival Georgia Tech to conclude the regular season. Kirby Smart’s team does not control their own path to the SEC championship game but remains in the mix.

5. Texas Tech

Texas Tech comes off a bye week looking to conclude the regular season with another Big 12 win and a trip to the conference championship game. Joey McGuire and his team have the resume to not only compete for a College Football Playoff spot, but a first-round bye.

6. Oregon

Oregon faced USC this week with massive College Football Playoff implications and walked away victorious. Dan Lanning and his group have a resume which lines up continues to rise with other results.

7. Ole Miss

Ole Miss comes off a bye week looking to make the College Football Playoff with a final hurdle against in-state rival Mississippi State. Lane Kiffin’s future aside, there is plenty intrigue where the team lands in the rankings each week.

8. Oklahoma

Oklahoma picked up another massive win for their College Football Playoff resume, knocking off Missouri to set up a chance to lock themselves in against LSU. Brent Venables and his team is now firmly in control for a spot in the postseason.

9. Notre Dame

Notre Dame continues a strong run through the back of the regular season, making up ground after two early losses. Marcus Freeman’s group took care of business once again this week by dominating against Syracuse.

10. Alabama

Alabama comes off a convincing win against Eastern Illinois with an in-state rivalry game against Auburn between them and a chance to play in the SEC title game. Kalen DeBoer and his team must solidify the resume on the bubble of the College Football Playoff.

11. BYU

BYU picked up a big win against Cincinnati this week which has them in position to get a Big 12 title game rematch if they can defeat UCF. Kalani Sitake and his team now look to finish the regular season strong and solidify their CFP resume.

Miami continues a slow climb toward the bubble of the College Football Playoff field with two losses on the season. Mario Cristobal and his team must take care of business against Pittsburgh and hope for favorable results to land in the ACC championship game.
