Jalyn Crawford of Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview High School is near the beginning of a long recruiting marathon.

Like his high school football career, his recruitment is in its infancy stages. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete is set to be a big piece of the Parkview offense and defense as a sophomore in 2021.

As a wide receiver, Crawford shows burst and explosiveness to take the ball to the end zone whenever he touches it. As a cornerback, he’s good in coverage and already has a nose for the football. Crawford also has length at 6-1.

All of those attributes have already attracted the eyes of Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech. Both schools have offered the Parkview sophomore.

Being close to home matters to Jalyn Crawford

Jalyn Crawford already has his eyes on some of the pros from both schools. Being close to home is an important selling point for Crawford at the moment.

“Out of those two, I’d say Georgia Tech is the best right now,” Crawford said. “I’d get to stay close to family… Georgia Tech is close to home. Pittsburgh would be great, too. It’s far away.”

Coincidently, Crawford has also paid close attention to Georgia Tech’s playing style. He loves the fact that Yellow Jackets play a pressing style of coverage in their secondary. Pressing wide receivers is something Crawford prides himself on being able to do.

The ACC as a conference also intrigues Crawford.

“I’m a long, lanky cornerback and the ACC throws the ball a lot,” Crawford said.

Crawford has already camped at Georgia Tech and Georgia this summer. Both programs impressed Crawford.

Despite his interest, he doesn’t have a Georgia offer yet. As a result, Crawford has his eyes on Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs should interest materialize in the future.

“(Kirby) Smart is a good coach, I feel like that would be a good place for me and it’s close to home,” Crawford said.

Crawford already has an idea of what would sell him on a program in the future.

“I want to be in a place where I have an opportunity to play,” Crawford said.
