Justice Haynes, Evan Link injury updates: Sherrone Moore reveals latest on Michigan starters
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore provided injury updates on junior offensive lineman Evan Link and star junior running back Justice Haynes following the Wolverines’ 24-7 win over Washington on Saturday.
Link, who has started at left tackle in all seven games this season, was carted off during the first half and did not return to the game. Justice Haynes, whose 705 rushing yards ranks sixth in NCAA, missed the game due to an abdominal injury he suffered in Michigan‘s 31-13 loss to USC last Saturday.
“With Evan, we’re not really sure,” Moore said postgame. “It doesn’t look too good. I know it was a lower-body thing, but we’ll see how he does. Justice was a game-time decision. He practiced throughout the week and we always air on the side of, even sometimes when players want to go, we want to make sure they’re full strength before we do anything. He was a game-time decision.”
In Haynes’ absence, sophomore running back Jordan Marshall shined out of the backfield. He carried the ball 25 times for 133 yards and one touchdown.

The win for Michigan was much needed. The Wolverines opened the season with a 4-1 record but were stomped on the road at USC last weekend. Washington entered Saturday’s game with a 5-1 record, with its lone loss coming to No. 1 Ohio State.
Defense dominated early, as both teams were held nearly scoreless through the first quarter. Michigan broke the seal thanks to a 22-yard passing touchdown from Bryce Underwood to wide receiver Andrew Marsh with 33 seconds remaining in the first. This lead didn’t last for long however, as Washington running back Jonah Coleman found the end zone right before halftime to tie the game at seven apiece.
The second half was dominated by Michigan however. Marshall broke the 7-7 tie with a 14-yard touchdown run near the end of the third quarter, and the Wolverines made it a two-possession game thanks to a 10-yard passing touchdown from Underwood to tight end Zack Marshall early in the fourth quarter. Kicker Dominic Zvada then drilled a 26-yard field goal with 4:10 remaining, cementing the 24-7 win for the team in blue and maize.
“That was fun. That was a fun win,” Sherrone Moore said postgame. “Fun win to be a part of.”
