National Championship Odds: Betting favorites see shakeup after Week 11 of college football

The college football national championship is just over two months away, and the odds are becoming more concise each day. After a wild Week 11, BetMGM updated its national championship odds.
While Ohio State retained the top spot, there were multiple shakeups. After all, six teams ranked in the AP Top 25 suffered losses this past weekend. Then again, Ohio State fell in its regular-season finale last season before making its national championship run.
In other words, anything is possible. Alas, for now, these are where the odds stand.
1. Ohio State (+200)
Ohio State is the heavy favorite to take home the national championship trophy this season, and it’s difficult to blame oddsmakers for their confidence. The Buckeyes are 9-0 and boast the No. 1 defense in the country.
On Saturday, OSU strolled to a 34-10 win over Purdue. In the victory, star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith reeled in a game-high 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown.
2. Indiana Hoosiers (+600)

Oddsmakers aren’t quite as confident in Indiana, but it’s hard for the Hoosiers to complain. They’re 10-0 this season and locked up head coach Curt Cignetti‘s future with a massive extension in October.
On Saturday, Indiana suffered a rare scare, narrowly defeating Penn State 27-24. It’s the closest any team has come to toppling the Hoosiers this season. Indiana ultimately escaped with a victory, thanks to an incredible touchdown catch by Omar Cooper Jr.
3. Texas A&M Aggies (+700)
Texas A&M is oddsmakers’ favorite from the SEC to win it all. On Saturday, the Aggies picked up their third win on the road against a ranked opponent this season, defeating Missouri 38-17.
Missouri was without starting quarterback Beau Pribula and tight end Brett Norfleet. Nevertheless, it was an impressive showing for the Aggies, who racked up 464 yards of total offense.
4. Alabama Crimson Tide (+800)
If Texas A&M happens to falter, Alabama will be ready to represent the SEC. Since suffering a loss against Florida State in their season-opener, the Crimson Tide are 8-0. Most recently, Alabama handily defeated LSU 20-9.
As usual, quarterback Ty Simpson shined in the triumph, completing 21-of-his-35 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown, without throwing an interception. Alabama’s defense was spectacular as well, holding LSU to 232 yards of total offense and forcing two turnovers.
5. Georgia Bulldogs (+1000)

Georgia didn’t fall victim in a trap game against Mississippi State on Saturday. Instead, Kirby Smart and Co. walked away with a comfortable 41-21 victory.
In the win, UGA quarterback Gunner Stockton put on a show, notching 264 passing yards and three TDs, while throwing no interceptions. Running back Nate Frazier had an even more stunning performance, logging 181 yards and a score in the ground game.
6. Notre Dame (+1000)
Notre Dame began its season with back-to-back losses, but hasn’t lost since. On Saturday, the Fighting Irish dominated Navy in a 49-10 shellacking.
Despite the poor weather conditions, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr completed 13-of-his-16 pass attempts for 218 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions. Running back Jeremiyah Love thrived as well, piling on two rushing touchdowns.
7. Oregon Ducks (+1500)
Oddsmakers aren’t quite as confident in Oregon as they were earlier in the season, but they’re not counting the Ducks out, either. On Saturday, Oregon picked up a gritty 18-16 win against Iowa.
The Ducks played through ugly conditions, with freezing rain slowing down their passing game. Alas, Oregon kicker Atticus Sappington ultimately kicked in a game-winning 39-yard field goal to give the Ducks their eighth win of the season.

8. Texas Tech Red Raiders (+1800)

Texas Tech is the favorite in the Big 12 again after defeating BYU 29-7 on Saturday. The Red Raiders have won both of their games against ranked opponents this season—a promising sign for the postseason.
In the win over BYU, Texas Tech RB Cameron Dicky erupted for 121 rushing yards and a score. The Red Raiders’ defense was also exceptional, squeezing three turnovers out of the Cougars.
9. Ole Miss Rebels (+2000)
Despite being ranked No. 6 in the country, Ole Miss has the ninth-best odds to win the national championship, according to BetMGM. Of course, the Rebels won’t allow Las Vegas to affect their ambitions.
Ole Miss enjoyed a relaxing 49-0 win over The Citadel in Week 11 and will face off against Florida and Mississippi State in its final two games of the regular season. If Ole Miss wins both games, it will make its first College Football Playoff appearance in program history.
10. Texas Longhorns (+3000)
Texas is a long shot, but the team simply refuses to go away. After Texas suffered a loss against Florida in October, many fans counted them out. Nonetheless, the Longhorns are 7-2 and hold their fate in their hands.
The road ahead won’t be easy. Texas still must face Georgia and Texas A&M in its final three games of the season. Yet, if the Longhorns somehow find a way to squeak into the CFP, there won’t be many teams wanting to run into them in the first round.

13. USC (+8000)
