Pro Football Focus ranked the top 10 quarterback units throughout the entire country ahead of the 2024 college football season.

As the calendar turns to the summer, it’s time to really think about what the college football season will look like. You can always talk and debate quarterbacks.

Let’s dive into Pro Football Focus’ top 10 quarterback units ahead of the 2024 season, via Max Chadwick.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Carson Beck is the top dog here, no pun intended, and could very well be a Heisman candidate. But Beck has a lot of depth going into 2024.

Behind him is Gunner Stockton, Arizona State transfer Jaden Rashada and freshman Ryan Puglisi. Someone will have to step up eventually, but this is Beck’s show right now as Georgia goes for a third national title in four years.

2. Oregon Ducks

Despite not having Bo Nix this season, Dillon Gabriel is in. This is Gabriel’s final season of college football and he’ll Dan Lanning quite the quality campaign.

Behind him is Dante Moore, who transferred from UCLA. He is a former five-star and got starting experience with the Bruins. Redshirt freshman Austin Novosad is the third quarterback.

3. Texas Longhorns

Surprisingly, the Longhorns are No. 3 according to PFF. This is a room that features Quinn Ewers as the starter and Arch Manning as the backup.

True freshman Trey Owens is in the fold now with Maalik Murphy transferred out of the program. But when you have one of the top quarterbacks in the country and a former No. 1 overall prospect, your QB room is pretty good.

4. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes reshaped their quarterback room with Kansas State QB Will Howard. Devin Brown is back after getting some time last year.

Howard is the projected starter and a good one to boot. The room rounds out with five-star recruit Julian Sayin and Air Noland as another top young buck. Lincoln Keinholz is also there in a deep room.

5. Alabama Crimson Tide

Jalen Milroe is a back and is a Heisman contender in 2024. Sure, there’s a new coach in Kalen DeBoer, but you all saw what he did with Michael Penix Jr.

Ty Simpson is there as an impressive backup and then the room is rounded out with young bucks. Dylan Lonergan and Washington transfer Austin Mack will vie for the third spot.

6. Ole Miss Rebels

Jaxson Dart is back again and one of the better quarterbacks in the country. He’s coming off a career year in 2023 and this could be Lane Kiffin’s best Rebels team yet.

Behind him is former sought after recruit Walker Howard, who looks like the heir apparent. Austin Simmons and AJ Maddox round out the Ole Miss QB room.

7. Florida Gators

Graham Mertz is the veteran, as he’s entering his sixth season of college football. He had his best year in 2023 protecting the football.

But true freshman DJ Lagway was the big prize in the recruiting hall for Billy Napier. He’s the future. Clay Millen, a former Colorado State starter, is also in the room.

8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame got another transfer with Riley Leonard coming over from Duke. He can really run the football and has a big arm, but was hampered by injuries last season.

Steve Angeli is a redshirt sophomore and looks like a reliable backup this season. Let’s not forget the freshmen Kenny Minchey and top recruit CJ Carr.

9. Penn State Nittany Lions

Drew Allar gets a lot of heat, but PFF is a big fan of the Penn State quarterback and what he can bring to the table in 2024. Backing him up is Beau Pribula.

PFF is high on him as a backup due to his 79.8 grade by their metrics. True freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer is now in the fold as well.

10. Missouri Tigers

Brady Cook was vastly improved last season and it led to one of the best Missouri seasons in recent memory. Look out for Cook to make even more strides in 2024.

Drew Pyne transferred to the school in the offseason, coming from Arizona State and injuries in 2023. But as a former Notre Dame starter, the Tigers’ QB room has some experience.

Now that Pro Football Focus gave us a preview of the top 10 quarterback rooms in college football, we’ll see how it evolves. Who will take the mantle this fall?
