Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love ripped off a 12-yard touchdown run to put Notre Dame up with less than three minutes to play, capping off a 75-yard drive. But the Fighting Irish failed on the extra point attempt with a botched snap.

Facing a three-point deficit, Texas A&M tied it up at 34-34 with less than 10 minutes to play with a 45-yard field goal from kicker Randy Bond. It capped off an 11-play, 47-yard drive that was nearly five minutes long.

Adon Shuler ejected for targeting

Notre Dame safety Adon Shuler has been hit with a targeting penalty for the tackle on Marcel Reed. Shuler is out for the game and for the first half of next week vs. Purdue. It’s 1st-and-10 from the Texas A&M 45-yard line.

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was down for a bit after he ran it for 3 yards, but he is now walking off the field on his own power. The play is being reviewed for potential targeting.

Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr lofted up a pass that was picked off by Texas A&M’s Scooby Williams. Aggies take over on the Notre Dame 47-yard line.

The Aggies pieced together a 9-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to make it a one-score game again. Marcel Reed picked up chunk yards in the air with a 21-yard pass to Mario Craver and a 24-yard pass to Rueben Owens. Le’Veon Moss punched in a 2-yard touchdown.

Texas A&M answered with a 5-play, 75-yard drive featuring a 45-yard connection from Marcel Reed to KC Concepcion. Le’Veon Moss punched in a 1-yard touchdown run to make it a one-possession game.

Notre Dame was not able to punch in the Marcel Reed interception for a touchdown, but kicker Noah Burnette converted a 22-yard field goal to extend the Fighting Irish’s lead.

Facing a 3rd-and-1 from its 50-yard line, Notre Dame handed it off to running back Jeremiyah Love, who was brought down for a loss of five yards. A&M takes over after the punt on its 10-yard line.

With Texas A&M going three-and-out on the first drive, Notre Dame’s Loghan Thomas blocked the first punt of the game and it was returned 24 yards for a touchdown by Tae Johnson.

Notre Dame won the toss and has deferred to the second half. Aggies are set to receive and will take over from their 25-yard line.

Pregame tiff

A pregame tiff at Notre Dame Stadium, as the home team came over to jaw at the visitors as they left the field. Nothing happened, but emotions were escalated.

Texas A&M wearing script helmets

The Aggies revealed an all-white combo this week, featuring a new-look all-white helmet with a script “Aggies” written across. It’s a white jersey with maroon complements. It’s a new look for Texas A&M, which has not had a huge portfolio of uniforms in recent years.

Series history

Notre Dame leads 4-2. The Irish won the last meeting 23-13 in College Station, Texas, on Aug. 31, 2024. Even though ND leads the series 4-2, the most the Irish have scored in any game against Texas A&M is 28 points. That was in the Cotton Bowl to conclude the 1992 season, one of three postseason games the two teams have met in.
