Four-star SG Joe Sterling commits to Texas

Joe Sterling, a four-star shooting guard in the 2026 class, has committed to Texas, he told Rivals.
The 6-foot-4 senior out of Harvard-Westlake (CA) chose the Longhorns over Washington State, New Mexico, UC Santa Barbara, and Northern Iowa.
Sterling, an Encino, CA native, is ranked as the No. 104 overall player in the class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 26 ranked guard guard.
Sterling becomes Texas’ second commitment in the 2026 class, joining four-star SG Bo Ogden (No. 34 NATL).
Sterling on why he chose Texas
Joe Sterling went in-depth on why he chose the Longhorns with Rivals.
“Coach Sean Miller and the staff’s resumes speak for themselves. But also I think it fits me the best out of all the options I had. Not only their fast paced playing style but also the competitive oriented environment and mentality they have as a program. They have all the resources in the world for me to become the best version of myself.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?
“We would be in constant communication throughout this process and we really developed a close connection. Talking with them in person during my visit and watching them practice sealed the deal for me. Sean Miller is one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time and the staff as a whole has a tone of experience with players like me.”
In his own words, what type of player is Texas getting in Joe Sterling?
“I would describe my game and playing style as simple but effective. I’m a very skilled and smart player who just loves the game. Ultra competitive and versatile on both ends. Somebody who will do whatever it takes to win.”
He has a message for Texas fans.
“My message to Texas fans would be to get ready to see a whole lot of buckets and Ws in the Moody Center!”
