Looking at the numbers, it’s hard to see Louisiana Tech losing this game — unless the Bulldogs beat themselves.
Call me a homer if you want, but Sam Houston State simply hasn’t shown much on either side of the ball in 2025 under first-year head coach Phil Longo.
Quarterback Blake Baker is coming off a career-best performance, throwing for 340 yards against WKU. Now, he faces a Bearkats secondary surrendering 272 passing yards per game. In other words: it could be a field day for the Bulldogs’ passing attack.
On defense, Luke Olson’s unit has to be licking its chops. Sam Houston State’s offense is converting just 21% of its third downs and still hasn’t found an identity — whether running or throwing the football.
And what’s left for Bearkat fans to hang their hats on? They’ve been within one score in the fourth quarter in four of their last five games, so maybe one finally breaks their way. But not this week.
