Stanford lands commitment from 2026 safety Caleb Carson

Stanford has secured a commitment from 2026 safety Caleb Carson out of Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Georgia. Carson was offered a scholarship by Stanford in the middle of May, choosing the Cardinal over Purdue, Memphis, UNLV, Rice, and others.
Listed at 6’2”, 190 pounds, Carson plays free safety, making him responsible for being the last line of defense against the deep ball. When watching his tape, what really stands out is how hard he hits. He fully commits to every tackle and isn’t afraid to hit whatsoever. He seems to enjoy popping guys and hitting them as hard as he can. Just all-around, he’s got sound fundamentals on his tackles.
On offense, Carson plays wide receiver and has good hands. He knows how to make catches in traffic and use his physicality on that end. That is something that should serve him well as a free safety at the next level. He has all the tools to make an impact as a ball hawk as well.
Even though Carson is lacking a Rivals rating at the moment, I like his potential and mindset. You can never be short on guys who love to hit and know how to tackle. That’s been a problem for Stanford in recent years and so adding him will help them shore up that weakness. I look forward to seeing what he brings to The Farm and how he grows under the coaching of safeties coach Kodi Whitfield.
