Lady Raiders Turn Focus to ACU in Odessa, After Routing Washington State on Road
Texas Tech will have little time to admire their sparkling 11-0 record. Less than 48 hours after a dominant road win at Washington State, the Lady Raiders head to Odessa on Sunday for a 2 p.m. neutral-site matchup with Abilene Christian.
Texas Tech earned the win on Friday night, handling business in a 82–51 win in Pullman, by controlling the game with balance on offense and their trademark pressure defense.
Bailey Maupin had perhaps her best all-around performance of the season leading the way with with 19 points while adding seven assists, four rebounds and four steals. The outing also moved Maupin past Britanny Brewer into 11th place on Texas Tech’s all-time scoring list. She is now 22 points from entering the Top 10.
Snudda Collins was equally effective off the bench, scoring 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 at the free-throw line in just 16 minutes. Collins’, a transfer addition in the offseason, is now averaging 15.3 points per game something she thanked her teammates for postgame after earning the team’s Lady RAider Dominator of the Game award.
“I haven’t had fun playing basketball in a really long time,” Collins said. “And y’all make it really, really fun.”

Texas Tech once again had four players in double figures, with Adlee Blacklock finishing with 13 points after hitting three straight three-pointers in the fourth quarter and Jalynn Bristow adding 12 points and seven rebounds.
Defense of course was what set the tone. The Lady Raiders forced 18 steals, the most in a single game by Tech since 2012, with five different players recording at least two steals. Gemma Núñez and Maupin led the way with four steals apiece, helping Texas Tech disrupt passing lanes to frazzle Washington State early and often. The Cougars were forced into 24 turnovers while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 18.5 percent from three, pushing Texas Tech to seventh nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency per Torvik.
That defensive focus will be tested again Sunday against ACU when the Wildcats high pace and 20th nationally ranked three point attempt team meets them in Odessa.
Head coach Krista Gerlich pointed to discipline as the key against ACU.
“They shoot the three really well, and they play fast,” Gerlich said. “We have to guard our own so we don’t over-rotate and give up kick-out threes.”
