As of Monday morning, the initial On300 football prospect rankings for the 2024 recruiting cycle have now been released. Included in those rankings are nine prospects from the state of Alabama, some of which will be high-value targets by the Crimson Tide.

Now, we have to remember that the final rankings for this class won’t come out for almost another two years. A lot can — and will — change. But this is a great place to get you started as far as keeping up with the top in-state talent for that cycle.

Only the top three prospects debut with five-star ratings in the initial On300. Oddly enough, the top in-state player checks in right behind those guys at No. 4 overall, meaning that player just missed out on the five-star mark. Don’t worry though. That should change in the future.

Let’s go ahead and get a look at those nine in-state players, shall we?

What On3 says about Mbakwe: “Jaylen Mbakwe (No. 4) is ranked as an athlete, but could project as a cornerback long-term. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder from Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville is one of the more dynamic two-way prospects in the cycle. Mbakwe carries over his 10.76 100-meter track speed onto the field. He’s an explosive player with the ball in his hands and recently impressed in coverage as a corner at Under Armour’s Atlanta camp. Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Oklahoma are in the mix per his On3 Recruiting Prediction machine.” – Charles Power
