Alabama has picked up its second commitment of the day on National Signing Day when St. James (La.) wide receiver Shazz Preston announced his intentions of continuing his playing career in Tuscaloosa.

With his commitment, the Crimson Tide now have four receivers signed or committed in their 2022 class. Not only that, but three of the nation’s top 10 tight ends are also either committed or signed.

That’s quite the collection of pass-catching talent for Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. It’ll also be useful for the recently signed five-star quarterback Ty Simpson, who is expected to be the future at quarterback.

Preston is the top-rated wide receiver from the state of Louisiana. Alabama once again being able to go into LSU’s backyard for a top prospect should be considered a big deal.

Here’s what On3 has to say about Preston:

“One of the best receivers in high-point situations in the 2022 cycle. Has tremendous feel, timing and body control when the ball is in the air. Competes for the ball in the air and in traffic. Plucks the football with his arms extended, using his 9.5-inch hands. Has the foot quickness to create separation out of cuts. Flashes high-end start-stop ability after the catch. His burst off the line can close gaps against off coverage. Has excellent change of direction at 6-foot, 190 pounds. Quicker than fast, but possesses adequate speed. Plays faster than he will time. Talent carries over to production on Friday nights.”
