Following the Future: Alabama commits in action (Oct. 5-6)

The majority of Alabama commitments will suit up this week for critical games on their schedule. There are heavyweight showdowns, region/district/league games; some who are hoping to remain undefeated and others looking to bounce back from losses.

BOL provides a closer look at Alabama commitments in action this weekend.

Five-Star Plus+ QB Julian SayinCarlsbad High School (Calif.): On3’s No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 class is looking to lead his team to a 7-0 start. The Lancers will play host to Poway (3-3) in their first home league game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Sayin has completed 94-of-118 passing attempts (79.7%) with 15 touchdowns and no interceptions. He also has 19 rushing attempts for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 1 TE Caleb Odom and ’26 OL Zykie HeltonCarrollton High School (Ga.): Carrollton (5-1) has shut out their opponents in three of the past five contests. After a bye week, the Trojans will head to East Coweta (5-1) in Sharpsburg for a game on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Odom currently has 24 receptions for 421 yards (17.5 yards per catch) and seven touchdowns. He remains the No. 1 target for USC commitment Julian Lewis. The top QB in the ’26 class visited Alabama for the Texas game, and he is expected to return on November 4 (vs. LSU).

No. 1 Interior OL Casey PoeLindale High School (Texas): Lindale (3-3) has put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season, winning by a total of 95-14 over the past two games. The Eagles will next take on Kilgore (5-1) on the road Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Top 100 CB Zabien Brown, Santa Ana (Calif.), Mater Dei High School: Like the Julian Sayin-led Carlsbad Lancers, the Monarchs are seeking a 7-0 start to the season. Mater Dei will play host to JSerra Catholic (4-2) on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Top 100 S Peyton WoodyardBellflower (Calif.), St. John Bosco High School: The Braves (5-1) bounced back last week after a loss versus Kahuku, beating Santa Margarita 42-7. They’ll face off against Servite (4-2) at home on Friday, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.

Top 100 DL Jeremiah Beaman, Birmingham (Ala.), Parker High School: Parker is looking to get back in the win column after losing 32-31 in overtime against Pleasant Grove last week. Beaman and the Thundering Herd will have a home matchup with Woodlawn (0-4) this Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Four-star WR Rico Scott, Harrisburg (Pa.), Bishop McDevitt High School: After facing Milton Hershey last week for homecoming, Bishop McDevitt (6-0) travels to Hershey HS (5-1) for a Friday night game. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Four-star S Red Morgan and three-star DL Isaia Faga, Phenix City (Ala.) Central: The Red Devils (5-0) are also off to an undefeated start to their 2023 season. Central plays host to Dothan (5-1) for a regional game this Friday at 7:00 p.m. Faga leads the team in tackles (29) and sacks (3.5) while playing sparingly in the second half of most games. He also has nine tackles for loss.

Four-star LB Cayden Jones, Asheville, N.C., Christ School: Christ School picked up their first win of the season with a 20-7 win over Asheville School last week. The Greenies (1-5) are set to host Charlotte Christian (4-2) this Friday at 7:00 p.m. So far this season, Jones has 47 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and a pair of sacks.

Four-star interior OL William Sanders, Brookwood High School (Ala.): Three straight region losses for Brookwood (1-4) including a 56-6 loss to Hillcrest two weeks ago. The Panthers host Bessemer City (2-4) on Friday night.

Four-star interior OL Joseph Ionata, Clearwater (Fla.), Calvary Christian Academy: Calvary Christian beat Keon Keeley‘s former school, Berkeley Prep, by a score of 28-21 last week. The Warriors will next host Trinity Catholic (1-4) on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Three-star TE Jay Lindsey, Butler (Ala.), Patrician Academy: Patrician Academy (4-2) welcomes Lowndes Academy (6-0) into town on Friday night. This will be a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Three-star S Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Gadsden (Ala.) City High School: Gadsden (3-3) will look to respond after back-to-back losses. They resume regional play with a home game versus Hazel Green (0-5) on Friday night.

Three-star LB Quinton Reese, Birmingham (Ala.), Ramsay High School: Wenonah (5-1) travels to Ramsay (4-2) for a Thursday night contest. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Reese has 97 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and three sacks this season.

Punter Anderson Green (Preferred Walk-On), Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Northridge High School: Northridge (1-4) heads to McAdory HS (3-2) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Central.

2025 Bama Commitments

Five-Star WR Ryan Williams and ’25 four-star DL Antonio Coleman, Saraland High School (Ala.): Coming off a 70-20 win over Foley at home last week, Saraland (6-0) heads to Blount (1-4) for a 7:00 p.m. matchup on Friday night. Williams had three touchdowns against Foley, including this long TD reception.

Top 100 WR Jamie Ffrench, Jacksonville (Fla.), Mandarin High School: Mandarin will try to get back in the win column after two straight losses to end September. Mandarin (4-2) faces off against Westside (0-6) on the road on Friday night.

Ffrench has 25 receptions for 530 yards and six touchdowns so far in his junior season.

Four-star RB Anthony Rogers, IMG Academy in Bradenton (Fla.): After two straight weeks off, IMG returns to the field on Friday night. The Ascenders (4-0) will be in Jacksonville for a road game against Bartram Trail (3-2) at 7:00 p.m..

Four-star interior OL Dontrell Glover, Fairburn (Ga.), Langston Hughes High School: The Panthers (4-2) won 64-0 over Alexander last week after dropping their previous contest by three points. They’ll seek their second straight win with a road regional game at East Paulding on Friday night.

Alabama commitments not in action: LB Sterling Dixon (shoulder injury), CB Jameer Grimsley (foot injury), LB Justin Okoronkwo (season over), and ATH Jaylen Mbakwe, WR Amari Jefferson and OL Mason Short (team byes).
