GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA — The Florida Gators have landed one of their top targets in the 2025 class as 4-star running back Waltez Clark of Tampa (Fla.) Plant committed to Billy Napier & Co. after watching Florida beat No. 11 Tennessee 29-16 at The Swamp on Saturday.

“I’m about to talk to Coach Napier,” Clark told Gators Online after the game.

Clark is a 6-foot-1/2 and 190-pound standout who made two known visits to campus this summer. In June, he competed in a 7-on-7 team camp there. Clark then returned the following month for Florida’s Grill in the Ville recruiting event. He was back in town Saturday.

“They blew me away today,” Clark said Saturday night. “I actually thought it would be a dogfight. But it actually went pretty good.”

Florida was the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favorite with a projection percentage of 96.2.

“They’re sitting pretty high,” Clark, the No. 12 running back in the country for the On3 Industry, said a few days ago.

What stands out about the Gators:

“They finish,” he said. “They make sure they finish no matter how big or small the competition is.”

Clark, who saw the Gators play at home last season, has gotten close with Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke

“I’ve been talking to him a lot,” Clark said. “I also talk to (Gators staffer Chase Clark). I’m going to talk to Coach (Billy) Napier tonight. Coach Juluke tells me to stay focsed and get the job done.”

Clark was eager to see the Gators play up close again.

“I’ve got Florida by seven (against the Vols),” he said earlier in the week. “It ain’t gonna be easy. They’re gonna have to fight for that. I really pay attention (to the backs). Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson. Those are my boys. I like them. They read holes and accelerate though them. They do that very well.”
