Florida Gators LB Shemar James declares for NFL Draft

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators junior starting linebacker Shemar James has declared early for the NFL Draft, he announced on Thursday. He was a three-year starter at UF.
James started all 13 games this season, finishing second on the team with 64 tackles, 4.0 TFL, three pass breakups, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
James started first eight games of last year before a season-ending injury. He finished second on the team in tackles (55) and TFLs (5.5). He made 47 tackles as a freshman in 2022 and four starts.
James is the first UF junior to leave early for the league. Defensive lineman Caleb Banks and offensive linemen Austin Barber and Jake Slaughter have all announced that they’re returning for their redshirt senior seasons.
