Another future Gators has accepted an invitation to play in one of the prestigious All-American games.

Kamran James, a highly-regarded defensive lineman from Orlando (Fla.) Olympia, just committed to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. The game takes place on Saturday, January 7.

Four-star running back Treyaun Webb, a product of Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian, is the other Florida commit who will be in the Lone Star State that week.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound James committed to the Gators over the summer after taking numerous trips to Gainesville since the start of the year. Georgia was the other finalist in his recruitment, but UF had been viewed as the strong front runner during the months leading up to his announcement.

The presence of co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, Sean Spencer, played a pivotal role in the Gators ultimately coming out on top.

“The message I took away from coach Spencer, he always says don’t let football use me; use the game of football to get where I want to get,” James previously told Gators Online. “I really need to appreciate the free college that comes with playing football instead of just playing football and being a football player. There are other things I can get from playing football.”

According to the 2023 On300 rankings, James is highest-ranked prospect in the Gators’ class, checking in as the No. 34 player overall and No. 5 defensive lineman. His player comparsion with On3 is former Gators defensive lineman Carlos Dunlap.

In addition to the Gators and Bulldogs, James possesses offers from Alabama, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Florida State and Kentucky among others. He boasts an NIL Valuation of $27,000.

Scouting Report on Kamran James

Tall defensive lineman who is one of the more athletic and disruptive prospects at the position in the 2023 cycle. Measured at over 6-foot-6 and around 265 pounds prior to his senior season. Ran an outstanding 4.98 second electronically-timed 40-yard dash.

Primarily lines up as a big defensive end for his high school. A twitchy mover with explosive finishing ability behind the line of scrimmage. Has outstanding play speed at his size. Strokes down ball carriers from the backside. Consistently wins due to his athleticism and speed in pursuit. Shows a good burst off the ball and is borderline unblockable when he gets a good jump. Finished with 21 tackles for loss and 13 tackles as a junior.

Also plays basketball, where he shows the ability to throw down some powerful dunks. Has room to add muscle mass once he gets in a college strength program. Will continue improving his technical ability, namely his hands and overall polish. Has the upside to finish as one of the top defensive linemen in the cycle. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
