MOORE HAVEN, FLORIDA — There is much intrigue these days with Austin Simmons.

He’s a 4-star quarterback at Moore Haven (Fla.) in the 2025 class but as Zach Abolverdi of Gators Online reported earlier this week Simmons potentially could arrive in Gainesville well before then.

Here’s what he wrote:

Prior to the final speech of his spring speaking tour on Monday at the Fightin’ Gator Touchdown Club, Napier was asked if he still planned to add a fourth scholarship QB.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Napier said.

That quarterback will not be another transfer. Gators Online first reported Saturday that Florida commit Austin Simmons is currently going through the UF admissions process and there’s a strong likelihood that he will reclassify from 2025 to 2023.

Napier is not allowed to discuss recruits with the media until they sign their letters of intent, per NCAA rules, so he couldn’t go into detail about Simmons on Monday.

With this in mind, we thought the time was right to go watch Simmons play in person. So Thursday night, Gators Online is at his spring game down in Glades County not too far from Lake Okeechobee.

If this is in fact going to be his final high school game, we wanted to be there. He faces East Lee County. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. but the weather in the area hasn’t been good so we are tracking that.

We’ll keep tabs on him throughout the night in THIS THREAD ON THE SWAMP TALK MESSAGE BOARD.
