Recruiting is the part of college football that is done 365 days a year regardless of any dead periods.

That was certainly the case for Billy Napier and his staff in the month of April.

The Gators hosted hundreds of prospects throughout the month between the Orange and Blue Debut and a plethora of unofficial visits.

Here’s a recruiting recap of the month of April for the Gators.

Gators land three commitments

Florida had a hot start to the month with the commitment of 2025 quarterback Austin Simmons. He is currently slated as the No. 6 QB in the class and is the first commit of the class for UF.

The Gators notched their second running back commitment of the 2024 cycle with Kahnen Daniels verbally committing on April 10. The four-star recruit joins Chauncey Bowens as Florida’s RB duo for the 2024 class.

The nation’s No. 2 safety in Xavier Filsaime committed to UF the night of the Orange & Blue Game, which was just his second visit to Gainesville.

With seven commitments, the Gators have the country’s No. 4 class behind Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama.

Official visit schedule

Following a hot spring of recruiting, the Gators secured official visit dates from a number of top prospects in April.

June 2

The Gators will start the summer with a bang, hosting 10 prospects on the first weekend of official visits.

Napier and his staff will host six uncommitted prospects such as Jalyn Crawford, Kris Jones, Ethan Calloway, D’antre Robinson, Jamonta Waller and Kendall Jackson.

As for committed prospects, UF is brining in DJ Lagway, Adarius Hayes and Josiah Davis.

Texas A&M commit Dealyn Evans will also be in town, and he’s been on flip watch for some time now.

June 9

The next weekend will be another exciting one for Florida as it will host commit Myles Graham alongside a number of top prospects.

Recent Colorado decommit Ju’Juan Johnson will be in town as well as Michael Uini, Aaron Chiles and Jerrae Hawkins.

Tampa native TJ Moore has tentatively set his official visit to the Gators this weekend as well.

June 16

As of now, the Gators will host highly touted corner Wardell Mack on the third weekend of June.

Flip/commitment watch

The aforementioned Dealyn Evans has continued to speak highly of the Gators, and they are the clear No. 2 right behind Texas A&M.

With UF receiving an official visit the first weekend of June, a flip could come during his visit or soon after. However, Jimbo Fisher and his staff are going to do all they can to hold onto the four-star prospect.

Billy Gonzales has done plenty on the recruiting trail in his six weeks since being brought back to Gainesville.

Five-star wide receiver and Ohio State commit Jeremiah Smith seems to be locked in with the Buckeyes. However, if the Gators are able to secure an official visit with Smith, the tide of his recruitment could turn.

It’s only a matter of time before Gonzales gets his first receiver commit of this class.

Jordan Pride decommitted from FSU earlier in April, and the attention quickly moved to Florida. Corey Bender submitted an On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for the Gators to land Pride.
